Cheap fix
I changed my stock GM air filter a few days ago, and after 2 start/stops and about 50 miles, my check engine light came on. Car ran fine with no noticable difference. I compleated my 200 mile trip ok.
I took the car to AutoZone and they ran a code check for me. P0171 andP0174. Lean codes. They gave me a print out with the most likely problem/fix. MAF sensor. $66-98. Probably got some dirt into in when I removed the snorkel for the air filter
So, $.50 worth of MAF sensor spray cleaner and 2 start cycles later, no check engine light.
Something to keep in mind when you change your filter.
