I hit a pothole last night and it knocked the mirror off it’s holding pins in the HUD and I lost the display. While looking up how to repair it, I have seen many different aftermarket plug and play HUDs that cost a fraction of the price of a used HUD on eBay. I was wondering if anyone else has tried to swap out the old HUD for one of these new ones, and if they are superior to the old HUD?
If so, what brand aftermarket HUD is best? Do any of the newer aftermarket devices fit in the same slot as the existing HUD? Do you have to do any crazy wiring to get them to function, or can I use the existing HUD’s harness?
If I am going to go through the trouble of removing the dash (I’m not going to cut any duct work to save myself an hour), I’d like to upgrade if it’s worth it/possible.
Thanks, in advance, for any recommendations or insight you may have to offer.
