Default ported throttle body

Will a ported throttle body make a noticeable difference on an otherwise stock LS7?
I'm looking at Soler and AHP, $300 and $250 respectively.

I doubt it. I think you need to get to low to mid 500's at the wheels before needing a bigger throttle body.

Yes and no.

Yes that they will flow better as the vain is starting to be opened, but no when it comes to full throttle vain percentages, where you can end up with flat spots in the air flows of the TB at different throttle opened rates.

So if going to have a TB ported, then make sure they supply you will a Bench flow chart through the entire vain opening percentage, to prove that the air flow is steady increasing from 0 to 100% vain opening percentages, and not just a flat spot mess with the percentage rates instead.

As for the throttle controller, understand that its making the car think that you are pushing the pedal farther that you are, so in most cases, you lose the last 1/4 pedal to the floor or more of the pedal to TB opening rate making a difference, and just harder to control the car out of a corner, since pedal percentage rate for TB opening rates has been decreases as well (read with controller cranked up, gas pedal is dam near just an on/off switch only, no matter how much the pedal is pressed down).

Whoops. My reading comprehension sucks these days. It's hell to get old! The first time I read your original post, I thought you were questioning whether a bigger throttle body would be of benefit.

Lots of folks that port the throttle bodies claim you'll get better throttle response and a smoother running engine. If the porters claim any kind of power increase, I think that's bullshit. I'm using a ported throttle body on my heads/cam build. I can't tell you whether there were any improvements because I did ported and milled heads, cam upgrade, LT headers, ported and rod modded intake manifold all at the same time as the ported throttle body. It was a completely different Vette after all the work. When I had the throttle body ported, it was 200 bucks. My thinking was....why not?

I've had the SOLER controller for some time now. It's cool and adjustable and makes the car "feel" faster. I also had them do my TB but I'm in the process of installing it after a cam change so can't speak about any noticeable change.

I sent in my TB and had them send it back to me. It came back looking brand new. Looking forward to the extra 2 HP for sure! I think I got it back in 2 weeks.
