Default LS2 Engine Block Coolant Drain Plug

Hi folks.
im draining my C6’s engine coolant partly through the the driver side drain plug and I noticed every mention of it in the internet says it’s brass and the shop manual calls it a coolant heater and says it has a washer.
Yet mine is a plain steel plug with no washer.
I bought the car new so I know it’s stock.

Anyone have this experience? Or is my car unique? Also should I reuse it? Get a washer?

Thanks

Assuming you are draining coolant thru the block plug, it shouldn't matter what material is used. Unless of course, you are worried about galvanic reaction between dissimilar metals, then get an aluminum plug. And a coolant heater is usually placed in a freeze plug location , not a block drain. Are you sure you are looking at the right figure? I will look at my FSM.

They are dissimilar metals regardless. The factory on mine is steel, all replacements are brass, and the factory manual mentions only a heater. The block is aluminum.
