Speedometer and VSS

Speedometer just stopped working in my 2008.

Just wanted to confirm with those in the know as I go hunting for the fix.... the cruise control and the odometer are both working so the issue is not the VSS itself?

Will start to check wiring and connectors next.

Here is everything you need to diagnose your speedometer but unfortunately we can’t do it for you…having a factory level or equivalent aftermarket scan tool along with some electrical experience will help in the diagnosis.

Thanks.. I saw an earlier posting with this detail when I searched before my post.

related... the question really about a faulty VSS.... the odometer and the cruise are working... and the speedo just stopped.

So no similar experience out there?

Also, if its the IPC... are they all interchangeable within the C6 family... E.g... would a one from a Z06 work as a replacement in a base model. Would help to know as I look for a replacement.

Ok. So checked with other knowledgeable c6 gurus.

with the odometer and cruise control with shows the instantaneous speed working the signal is getting to the IPC. That makes sense.

Also a good post here on CF showing exploded views of the IPC and the signal processing board.

with it opened up can the speedo mechanism be removed thereby keeping the board and the odometer chip?

Although if the signal from board to speedo is the issue that won’t help.
