Its not a balancer, since crank assembly is balanced itself, its a harmonic damper instead.

As for yours and it slight wiggle, all looks normal to begin with.

Hence factory unit has inner hub, then outer pulley, with center rubber piece that is bonded to the two, so slight wobble is normal on the oem units, even when brand new.

As for the unit that most will upgrade to, is the powerbond PB1117SS. Is the same design with rubber isolator between inner hub and other pulley, but the outer pulley has a lip on one side, and spring clip on the other side, the keeps the outer pulley tram with inner hub, and prevents the outer pulley from going anywhere if the center rubber isolator bond breaks with the bonding to either.

Hence prevents this from happening,

With pulley shooting forward off the hub, to take out anything in front of it, when it does fail.

And just a note, if HD is to be replaced, make sure that its bolt is replace, and installed correctly as well. Hence been case of bolt not being replaced, or not installed correctly, the bolt spinning out to allow the entire unit to shoot forward, and again the enitie dam thing taking out everything in front of it as well.

As for other options in damperns, there is the ATI unit, that has the outer pulley bolted to the inner hub, but really over kill, unless your super charging, and going to have more drag on the outer pulley from super charger instead.

The downfall to the ATI unit, to remove it, you have to unbolt it apart first, and you never re-use the bolts again, since they are red loctite and torque to yield in the first place, and will just crack if you try to use them on the re-stall of the unit again.

Thank you for the info and insight. I will keep an eye on it. I read a lot about how bad the OEMs were and common bad. I dont recall the wobble before but I got it out for a few nice days and leaned into a couple times. Popped hood just nosing around and saw it wiggling a bit.

Appreciate the info.

Thanks

You can't reuse an ati damper?

Not the smaller damper bolts that fasten the pulley to the inner hub that are a one time use.
They get loctite and torqued to spec, and when you go to remove them, are already stretched, and if you try to reuse them again, head will snap off in a mater of time.

The rest or ATI HB, can reuse over and over again if you are using ARP main bolt, but if using OEM main center bolt, it need to be replaced with new oem bolt each time since its a final stretch to torque bolt as well.

Aren't you supposed to use blue loctite on those?
