Default Intrusion sensor on with top off?

My 2005 shows an "intrusion sensor on" message after i shut the car down with top removed and windows down.

That is not supposed to happen? I was under the impression the intrusion sensor is not operative when you leave/park the car with the top off and windows down as it will engage the alarm with any gust of wind, which my car does as the alarm is activated constantly when the car is left in this position. Seems not right to me. How does it know the top is off anyway, i don't see the little red pin in one of the top latch holes as described in other topics.

When i block the two sensors above the rear view mirror with a piece of tape the alarm seems to shut up.

But i rather fix the cause instead of blocking the results.

Or in your case, since ultrasonic sensors are not being deactivated with the roof off, there is a problem with the switch ( end plunger not coming all the way out) in the channel instead.

That might be the issue. I didn't see this pin inside that hole but you think it is stuck back into the "top on" position, out of visibility?

Worth another look, thanks for the reply.

Just took a photo of the top front left latch just above the sun visor of my 2005 coupe and not only does it not look like the picture provided in this topic, it definitely does not contain a sensor....

What is the difference or am i just looking at the wrong position?

There are two metal tabs but these just hold a metal plate beneath that latch. And the roof doesn't have metal pins on that location so these are not to make any kind of connection.

Confused.....

who can help me further?

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out please.

The latches i have shown on my 2005 are clearly different than the ones posted before.

Does anyone knows were the sensor is located that detects if the top is on or off (if present) on my car, as it seem not to work.

Did you figure it out?

The picture from Dani is the latch area from a C7 I think. I vaguely can see the shifter and it looks like a C7. Yours looks like mine which a C6.

Thanks, that could explain something.

I cannot however find a sensor detecting the top on/off position. It bothers me my alarm keeps going off when i park the cat without top and windows down.

I taped off the intrusion sensors at the top by the mirror and that shuts him off.

Don't know if they are oversensitive or something is wrong, but i am going to unplug those sensors.

I don't know for sure but maybe what you take off is the way our model works. Could you post a picture of what you take off at the top of the mirror? Maybe the roof covers that when it is on the car and that's how it works?

No picture available now but on the top of the front windscreen just above the rear view mirror and inbetween the two sun visors there is a small plastic cap which has two sensors in it, about 3 or 4 inches separated.

I understand these are the two intrusion sensors which detects motion inside the car and are part of the anti theft system.

When i park my car with the top off and open the door the message "intrusion sensor on" lights up. This is odd as this movement sensitive sensor is supposed not to get activated when the top is off to avoid alarms going off due to wind, leaves etc.

So my car does not notice the top off.

After a couple of minutes the alarm does go off, very annoying. I have placed some tape over the two sensors and now the alarm keeps quiet.

I rather have the system working properly but if i cannot find what is causing the intrusion sensor to get armed i just disconnect it.

edit: this is the cap with the two sensors:
