Default Oil Temp

My oil temp is 212 in normal usage. Is that too high? I've burned 1-1/2 quarts of oil during the first 2,200 miles.

About 1/2 of my driving is in town, the other half at 55 MPH. Mine pretty consistently runs about 210-215. Auto tranny w base suspension.

Your 212 is normal compared to another thread on the same subject.

210-215 is fine. If the oil gets above 260 for extended periods( 10 or more minutes) of time that is when you slow down, to cool down. Or put on oil coolers. Yes the oil sythetics can take temps into the 300 degrees, but the internal engine componats can not take those high temps for very long.

if you have used 1 1/2 qts in your first 2200 miles I would also change the oil, no matter what the DIC oil % says.

Just got back in from some "cruisin" in the middle of no-where Texas. Mine runs 215-ish around town, normal speeds...and holds at 221 while driving 100 to 130 mph out in the desert.

Mine runs about 212 to 215 at highway (70-75) speeds.
