What is the significance of this picture and article? For all we know it could be a test mule for almost anything - if it even is one at all. This could be the "test the crappy interior plastic that keeps breaking" car...
Or it could be right in front of you - a test for a new exhaust that just so happens to not have the tips on it yet.

There are many many things this mule could be testing. It could even be testing an "active" exhaust system. At a Bash seminar a few years ago we learned that GM wanted to use cylinder deactivation on the Corvette to improve mpg but couldn't because of: 1) harmonic problems with the torque tube, and 2) poor sound, not acceptable for a Corvette. If the harmonic problem was solved, the sound problem could be cured by using electronic sound wave cancelling technology. Various manufacturers have been experimenting with it. Those look like common aftermarket mufflers but maybe they're some advanced technology...?
I will not believe any pictures, speculation or rumors until the C7 actually comes out. And if it has a V-6, I will NOT buy it. A Corvette should have a V8 period. Anything else, and you have lost a lot of buyers, including me. My sales guy at the Chevrolet dealership says he has seen pics but really I do not believe it. My opinion is that only a small handful of people have seen the C7 design and are keeping mum about it. And I like that.
The sales guy "always" know about the new cars. In fact, they are the last to know...
I know there are a few knowledgeable car salesmen out there, but Ive never met one. The majority look like they get their car info from reading the auto mags in the waiting area...
Why put a little v8 with turbos when you can keep the big one and put turbos on it????? Dont ruin a corvette, its American Muscle, Its supposed to have a big gas drinking V8!

As far as the electronic sound wave canceling technology goes, Chevrolet already uses that in the new Equinox 4 cyl. It's called Active Noise Cancelation or ANC and uses the subwoofer speaker to employ the noise cancelation sound waves.
