Look at GM and Corvette history -

We've seen lots of special editions at the end of a model run to boost sales - the LeMans editions C5s, the limited edition C3s, LT4 C4s...

My bet - we'll see a 60th anniversary C6 in 2013 that'll prolly be a paint and badge treatment with some embroidery trinkets on the headrests. The C7 intro would at the Detroit Auto Show in January of 2013, a model rollout at the Bash in Bowling Green in April and deliveries in August of 2013 as a 2014 model.

I'd look for some spy shots from cold weather testing this winter and then road tests come spring.

I agree that this is the current plan and likely results. I'm not so sure about the Detroit Auto show, but I have no reason to doubt that either.

The real wild card is the current head of GM who seems to feed his ego on staffing GM with his cronies from the past and canceling engine programs. He believes the future of GM lies in having a couple of models that account for a high % of the GM sales ala the Camery for Toyota or Accord for Honda, and GM having multiple propulsion solutions. He recently cancelled the Cad high performance engine and approved development of a natural gas engine (purpose unknown).

What he'll do to the Corvette is unknown.

the economy is in the toilet, gm is not in as good of shape as they report. they
should thread lightly on this thing and get it right. if totally new, stay away from
the first introductions. some of you guys may want it, will you have a job in 2 years

Unless the banking / finance industry falls apart, I'll still have a job. I got lucky and fell into the field purely by mistake. Just like so many other things. Life is 90% + luck.

The latest issue of Vette did a story that said that with the 150 million invested into Bowling Green it would insure the release of the C7 in two more model years. They didn't say if that was based on the 2011 model year or 2012. If that is the case then the soonest would be 2013 or 2014.

My background was in motorcycles and major model changes were the same way - hush hush until they want you to know.
