BMWDAD, You and I are in agreement on the core issue, for multiple reasons I believe it's time for Chevrolet to introduce a new Corvette. But I won't quote the opinion of this "Associate Online Editor" as my reason. Jason Udy is either being intentionally controversial or he didn't understand the question and turned his disappointment with Corvette's "soul" into his "worst" car. Worst car... really? Understand the difference? Other MT editors picked cheap econoboxes (obvious choices) and SUVs (plausible for poor acceleration, harsh ride, fuel economy, road noise, bulk or sloppy handling), as "worst" cars. OK, I'll buy that. Controversy drives clicks, poor judgement by Udy but maybe his intent. If it was simply Jason Udy's disappointment we are reading because his expectations of Corvette were so high, misunderstanding the question should have been caught and corrected by a real editor at MT before being published.
My two cents.
BTW, happy new year everyone!
Cheers,
JB

I look forward to reading this forum daily.
This aging out happens to all cars. My 2008 335i coupe included.
I am on three forums.
C7 (nothing out)
Redesigned Cayman (spy shot of exterior and interior out and one review as a passenger)
Redesigned BMW 3 coupe (sedan out, in europe, 5 star reviews in every mag)
I am waiting patiently for the C7, and in the meantime enjoying the banter.
Thanks

I feel like the new viper will be competition, but if price is the ultimate measure we will have to wait for the z06 or zr1 version.
I can't wait to see the new viper at the New York Auto show. After seeing the renderings of the new C7 at jalopnik (assuming they are right) I am much less interested. Both cars should have much improved interiors which will be nice.
Performance wise the viper should be the winner until the new Zr1 comes out. The ACR and ZR1 should continue their rivalry.

That's probably correct. Very few details have been leaked at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if it has over 650hp...probably 700hp. That's all good, but my viper has 640 or so and it's more then enough. I am interested in the new interior and the weight. I would love to see it come down to z06 like weight and have an interior that is as good or better then the new cts-v. I really like that car.

FWIW I'm coming to the conclusion that GM is preventing Chevrolet from improving the Corvette interior to avoid competition with Cadillac. One product is "sporty performance," the other is "luxury performance," or some similar strategy. I'm not saying I agree, just that I suspect this may be an influence.

That said, it appears we do disagree on the size of Corvette's market potential and the wide range of competitors the car actually faces.

GM looks to capture younger drivers with the new Vette, we can all hope that it will continue to be an excellent supercar for the price point offered. I love the Z06 and ZR1...but don't need one to enjoy what the Corvette has offered in the base, Z51 optioned package, GS model...the performance speaks for itself and I hope to see something similar with the C7 at all levels.
