I 'm hoping for a model looking close too the Stingray model !!! but with what is showing on web sites , I'm getting disappointed .
I don't want a car that looks like a Ferrari , you want a European look , fine.
GM had it with the Stingray !!!
I was looking forward to the C7 , but I change my mind from seeing those pics......
I guess i'll keep my C5 then in a year or two I'll get a C6 and wait for when GM to really grow some ***** !!!!
"Grassy knoll"....that's funny! The more I look at the comparison of the pics that I posted, the more I'm convinced that this is all Jalopnik had. Look at the way the exhaust tips, roofline, rear valance, door seams, etc. in the testing photo all line up exactly to the rendering. Their artist certainly did a good job, but I'm betting (and hoping) that many of their details are wrong.
Two thirds of you in here bashing it are going to own one in the next 36 months.
This happens with every marquis car, every iteration, with everybody. Everyone hates it and says it's ugly. Then they see it in person, then they get used to it, then they start to see the dated design of their current beloved generation, then the see some modified new ones, then they lust for the new one secretly, then they finally bite the bullet and buy one...
Then the praise it for it's beauty and start the same bashing again with the next generation.
Yeah....that's the perfect plan on how to sell cars!!!
WOW....GM is so smart....so all powerful. Their gonna teach us all a lesson in how to tell us what we want.
And you....wow...you were so bright to figure it all out. I'm surprised they don't have you under a gag order....
To check the photo perspective issue I took some photos of my car from different angles, one from opposite the front of the car one from opposite the rear and one opposite the middle. I used maximum zoom so I could take the photo from far away as possible to minimise the perspective error.
Here is the Jalopnik outline over a composite of the three photos showing that the length is near enough to the same once the photo is fully side on.
This doesn't necessarily mean that the C7 will be the same length, it may just mean that the renderings Jalopnik did assumed the length was the same.
Also it demonstrates how the photo angle makes a big difference so I think the overlay I did over the spy photo probably has significant error due to the angle of the photo. (also lens length plays a part)
Me likes your talent sir
So how about overlaying the concept car with the Jalopnik so we can see where they screwed up?
I dont want a Ferrari or a Lambo I just want a Corvette .....The jalopnk rendering is surprisingly similar especially the wheels on the passenger side. But I really don't like it much anyway.....I think they have to do better than what we are seeing or I hope so anyway!!!

Ferrari's, Astons, and Lambo's are usually considered to be some of the most beautiful cars you can buy. I certainly don't want a Corvette that looks exactly like a Ferrari either, but you can't argue that the proportions of these cars (the front engined ones) are stunning, and we can only hope the next Vette captures some of the elegance and power that these European brands offer.
In fact, the Corvette is already very similar to the Ferrari California in dimensions. If they don't screw up the surface details of the C7 by trying to please a specific demographic, I'll be very surprised if the car doesn't bear some similarity to a Ferrari or an Aston Martin....and there's nothing wrong with that.....those cars are absolutely riveting. Good design and classic beauty are universal.

to me the Ferrari 599 is absolute stunner and looking from the spy shots and rendering it has the side and frontal resemblance of a 599.

Actually their is something wrong with that, a cheaper car trying to look like a different more expensive car, is called a Poser. What would you say if the next mustang came out and looked just like the new Corvette?
That's no different than someone taking their mustang GT and trying to fool people and make it look like a Shelby GT500, in my opinion.

I guess you didn't understand what I was saying. Good aesthetic designs will always have many things in common. "Cheaper" and "more expensive" have absolutely nothing to do with it. Just because a car may cost less than another doesn't mean the design can't be well executed. "Posing" is completely different thing. Clear enough?

Yeah , thats why nobody bought the hyundai genesis. People dont want all the same quality and good looks of the more expensive cars have for a fraction of the price with better reliabilty and warranty.
Vento may have had the right idea about the design as well. What is the possibility that chevy made the car look as much like the renderings to throw people off. We have to assume that chevy design team member scan these sites.
Also, I really hope the hood does not look like the renderings. Those air vents look terrible imo.
I think this will be a required element to generate positive downforce, if the explanation for the ZL-1 vented hoods makes it to production on this vehicle. Just sayin.

I understand what your saying, I didn't mean to come off like I was attacking you. What I meant was in general here on the forums, I keep hearing a lot of people saying wow it looks a lot like a 599. I hate that, It's like Chevy saying well the Ferrari 599 looks way better so lets make our car look like that. Where is the Imagination, I mean at least with the Stingray Concept their was something totally different and unique to corvette. If I bought one of these and Some one said hey nice Ferarri, I would hate to have to explain, "well this isn't a Ferrari, I couldn't afford one, but this looks just like one don't you think." I don't want a poor mans Ferrari, I want a unique kick *** Vette....Stingray

When was the last time someone bought a Genesis because it looked like a supercar they couldn't afford, are you kidding me? If they made it look just like a gallardo or 458, then yeah, that would be totally stupid.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
