Jalopnik C7 outline over C6 ZR1
I have aligned the wheel base
Hmm, I sure hope they're not making it bigger/longer again (like from C2 to C3 and even a slight increase from C4 to C5), I prefer my Corvettes smaller.
They are competing with the prancing horse. Of course the C7 will look similar to one. Didn't I say this quite some time ago? I forget. I've slept since then.

They're competing with them for the podium at races. But for the wallets, are you sure? If not, why would the comparing look matter?
That I can deal with, just as long as the increase in wheelbase does NOT also include an increase in overall length.
I don't know about overall length. I would think it's also shorter in that dimension since it is already known to be narrower. And because... European market.

The original test mule pictures that came out with the C6 body certainly appeared to have a longer wheelbase than the C6. Now, the spy shots of what may be the C7 (as well as the Jalopnic pics) seem to have longer overhangs as well, especially the rear. From looking at this I think we will be seeing a longer car, not shorter. Somewhat disappointing.

Could be. However a lower car can produce the illusion of longer or wider proportions. I don't remember exactly which car surprised me in being smaller than my Vette because it was flatter. I think it was the Murcielago or the Diablo.

True. The fact that none of the angles and distances that are being compared are all different makes it very difficult to judge as well.

GM acknowledged that when they camoe'd the C5 alpha and beta cars, that they grew several inches, sometimes in width, sometimes in length, sometimes both.
So, let's not assume anything about the C7's size based on the camouflaged one undergoing winter testing.
To check the photo perspective issue I took some photos of my car from different angles, one from opposite the front of the car one from opposite the rear and one opposite the middle. I used maximum zoom so I could take the photo from far away as possible to minimise the perspective error.
Here is the Jalopnik outline over a composite of the three photos showing that the length is near enough to the same once the photo is fully side on.
This doesn't necessarily mean that the C7 will be the same length, it may just mean that the renderings Jalopnik did assumed the length was the same.
Also it demonstrates how the photo angle makes a big difference so I think the overlay I did over the spy photo probably has significant error due to the angle of the photo. (also lens length plays a part)
It looks like it sits higher off the ground. And the lights and front design of the hood, lights, and grille somewhat resembles an aston martin.
I am so disappointed that it is not going to look like the one from the transformer movies. These renderings don't make me want to buy a new one like I was hoping for and was expecting too for the original concept.

meh ... if they ditch the "cormaro" tail-lights, i'll probably grow wood for it.
but like someone else said, i am more interested in final performance numbers. if the price point holds (or decreases!) and the base cars are reliably laying sub 4 second 0-60 with meat-shanks of torque all across the range, while providing a MORE connected and natural road feel, then i'll be in one as soon as it hits the lots.
and i hope they dont launch the Z06 or ZR1 along with the base coupe. I want at least one year without model envy

Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
