Waxweekly has the right idea on the hp numbers.
They won't move another 427 if they reveal the actual hp & torque numbers. Go back to your known science, the LS2 motor makes 430 hp.
No car on the market currently sold with Direct Injection has not increased the hp numbers by less than 10%. That figure there would move the hp for the C7 to 473 minimum. Then add in the other improvements such as NPP + VVT, new manifold, etc. and you gain a minimum of 10 more hp so now we are up to 483+ hp. If you look at other sports cars that converted to Direct Injection the numbers are closer to 11-12% increase. I believe that they are not revealing the actual numbers so that they can continue to move the 427 vert and GS models. Once 13 January rolls around, everyone's C6 value is going to dive. My guess on actual power will be 485hp & 470 lbs-ft of torque and then you have to add the decrease in weight of nearly 150 pounds. I was always taught by my Dad that you can figure a "rule of thumb" 15 hp for every 50 pounds. Therefore, just guessing here, if the C7 is 150 pounds lighter then you gain another 45 hp in performance comparison. That would be equivalent to adding 45 + 473 or 483 to = 518 to 528 hp equivalent. That may be the reason that those who have seen the C7 test mules with camo on the car running with the Z06 and actually being faster around the course. Less than 3 months to hear the truth. This is exciting, but I am still going to buy a 427 Vert and keep it for 4 years and then get the C7 Performance model.
Gentlemen/Ladies have faith, the C7 will be awesome.

Still a 6.2 liter mill. With the added tech and torque, they've only given a 'minimum' hp of 450 until the official C7 release. I'm guessing the final figured will be a touch higher.
If they came out and said 500hp, would you run out and buy a C6? If they said 500, with the improved torque curve, would the 427 models still be worth the extra ~20k to the average buyer? They still have a year to sell the C6.
12.5% HP and Torque over the LS2 or ~4% higher HP but wider torque band over the LS3 is still a significant step, and it has yet to be seen how well it will respond to CAI, Exhaust, Headers, and other easy to add mods.
"Other well-cited features include all-aluminum construction, higher compression ratios and a starting horsepower for the Corvette engine at well over 450."
You make an excellent point. Saying that is has a "minimum" of 450hp.. allows potential C7 buyers to get excited, without throwing dealers who still have C6's sitting on their lots under the bus.
I'm guessing official numbers will be 475hp/450tq.. but would not be surprised to see anything up to 500hp on the base car.

I came in here to post this exactly. I really think the the hp is going to be 475. They seem to up the power by 50hp each new generation give or take 5hp.

I don't see where the chief engineer said a "minimum" of 450 horsepower.
In fact he said..... "“The Holy Grail for developing a performance car is delivering greater performance and more power with greater fuel economy and that’s what we’ve achieved,” said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer. “By leveraging technology, we are able to get more out of every drop of gasoline and because of that we expect the new Corvette will be the most fuel-efficient 450 horsepower car on the market.”

I think people are hedging that "estimated" power means there is still more left on the table before anything is official. The ZL1 was at 550 and the ZR1 was at 620 before things were finalized.

The press release says the final number will be released 1-13-13
The technology and time that went into the development of this engine is astounding. BRAVO GM! And, for now, they will all be built at Tonowanda. BRAVO GM!
Is it safe to say that a 450hp/450flbs C7 would have to weigh 2800-2900 lbs to have the performance level of a C6Z?
Maybe. But there are other factors like area under the curve, gearing, unsprung weight, weight distribution, etc that have a big impact too.
That's why "underpowered" Porsches and BMW's always seem to have much better performance than their weight/power ratios alone would suggest. Just look at the new Carrera S with "only" 400hp/325tq. It weighs 33xx lbs and runs a 118 or so in the 1/4. On paper, that shouldn't happen if you compare it to, say, a slightly lighter 2005 C6 with 400hp/400tq.
