How many buy first year, how many wait for second year.

Ive had 3 vettes, 02 c5 vert, 05 c6 coupe and 08 C6....I sold my 08 C6 summer of '11 waiting and saving up for the C7.... But now I'm considering of picking up a'10+ C6 GS Vert instead of 1st yr C7... Not cause of the bugs it may have, but simply cause of msrp++ dealers are going to be asking....
I paid 3k over invoice for the 05, I paid invoice less 1/2 hold back for the 08

Actually. I thought about doing this.
My thoughts are that my career is on the rise right now. If things continue on the same course, I'll be able to afford the high performance model in a couple years.
But I decided I don't care enough. I'm going to buy a Z51 and I'm sure I'll be really happy with it. Truth is that if I really do want lots more power and an upgrade, I'll be able to afford to do it anyway.
However, if I lease it, I'm losing money either way and there goes my equity. So I'd end up buying no matter what. If it ends up that I don't make the money I plan to, then at least I didn't lose money on a lease and got myself a car I still like.

Third year for sure and a convertible at that. GM is notorious for using cheap electronics and sloppy engineering that leave you stranded and embarrased. By year three they should have most of that ironed out --- but by then I may be too old to get in and out of the damn car. But my daily driver is a BMW and I would't buy a 1st year BMW either and their engineering and build quality is far superior --- so it is 2017 C7 for me, provided I can still get in and out of a sports car. But in the meantime, I have two great Vets to tool around in.

Since I was the OP, and now have time to see and read about the C7, without a doubt I will WAIT. I have heard GM is stilling having some issues they are working out before this car goes to full production, thus the LONG wait time until the production lines open up. I have no idea what these issues are, but like many others, I don't buy first version software, and I don't buy first year cars.
Besides a few years from now, like GM does with all the previous generations, you will have a Pace Car Model, most likely the GS upgrade, or the Z06 upgrade, you will have changes in the model years as the first two years pass. I don't need to have to be the first on the block with the latest and greatest toy, I can wait a little while, until I feel the time is right to purchase. Besides I want a Convertible and have to wait anyhow, so to me, well worth the wait.
Glad I am not the only one who feels like I do. After all i waited over 35 years before I bought the Split Window, and now I am really enjoying it.

Originally I planned on getting a C7 as soon as they were out. Have changed my mind, and now will wait a couple of years when forum dealers should be offering some deep discounts.

That will never be a problem because for most people emotion almost always beats out rationality.

I just got my 5th Corvette, first ever convertible. I will buy the fourth year high performance C7 after the bugs are out. I bought a second year C6 (2006) the next year 18 improvements came out. Then in the fourth year the LS3 came out which had many improvements. Fourth year for me on the C7.
This isn't to say that the C7 won't be a great car for those who buy it, & maybe it won't have the normal teething problems. If I were in the crowd to buy one, I would plan on keeping it for 3 years with no mods & full warranty intact & then replacing it with a new C7 at that time.

I'll be passing on the first year of the C7... It doesn't excite me enough to suck up that depreciation again.

Not so sure about that one. I lost more money on my 2005 coupe (purchased new) than any other car I've ever owned. First year cars are the worst for depreciation because they all sell for around MSRP.

I have no issues owning the first car off the line. It is the mark up or lack of discont that will keep me waiting. i will wait a couple of years for the deep discounts on the Z06
