If you like the all-new styling of the C7 you're likely to prefer the coupe;
If you prefer traditional Corvette styling you'll likely prefer the vert.
Not in my opinion. The vert has a far better looking top from the C6 and great cleanliness of profile. I have a C6 vert and I like the C7 vert a LOT.
I am thinking about switching over to a coupe but this is going to be a very difficult decision and I have heard the same from a variety of others here.
The C7 didn't register for me until I saw the convertible, unveiled in Geneva several days ago, and followed-up with detailed videos on YouTube. In a similar vein, I had only mild interest in the C6 until the Grand Sport was introduced. Then, I just had to have one!
Big question is cost. If they want $5,000 more for he vert you can forget that..
I expect that the vert will be about a $5k premium over the coupe, maybe even $7k if they charge more for the power top now standard. I love the tops off feeling of both the vert and coupe but the vert is more convenient going topless. Before I sold my '05 C6 Coupe, I was removing the transparent top less and less. It got to be too much for me and I could still see up throught the transparent one. With that I wanted a C7 Vert next.
But if the spread is that $5k to $7k between the two I do have another option. Get a Coupe with two tops. Rather than the painted top get the Carbon fiber one that is much lighter to remove throughout the topless season (April - November in the NorthEast) and a transparent one for the colder weather. The option for both may cost only about $1,400 to $2,150. Significantly less than the Vert bottom line.
The grass is greener on the other side applies to this!!! I previously owned a C6 convertible. Having the top down is awesome especially with the improved interior of the C7. It’s kinda like having 2 different looks- top up and top down. It is also easier to clean the interior with the top down. On the other hand, I like the coupe because of the more radical styling, better lines, additional vent, and it’s somewhat of a convertible with the hardtop off. I can also stuff the kidos in the trunk of the coupe for short rides
I will more than likely get a coupe. There are quite a few negatives to the convertible such as sun burns, rigidity, safety, wear & tear and 5-10K additional cost. Furthermore, the convertible may not be available for the Z-model for quite some time if at all- I plan to purchase immediately when the Z is out.
