Default C7 weight math

Using C6 427 as a starting point due to carbon fiber body parts used.

Weight -3355

C7 weight savings:

chasis -99lbs
narrower wheels and tires -30 lbs
engine +10 lbs
torque tube +15 lbs
exhaust manifolds +5lbs

Let us add it up,

3350-30-99+10+15+5=3256 lbs

Disclaimer: no new weight increasing designs were employed.

It's probably tied for the #1 complaint about the camaro, alongside the terrible view out of the rear window. It's the biggest downside to a GT500. Weight is one of the bigger performance factors for a vehicle, less weight = faster and more nimble.

While it is a street car, people buy a corvette for a reason, and it isn't to just go get groceries...

3256 pounds I don't think is bad. If the car weighs under 3300 pounds and has (hopefully) the power I'm anticipating, it should be pretty damn quick.

Better mileage also. While not the main attraction, certainly is a perk.

This would be for a vert, though with the c6 427 only being a vert. So, with the carbon fiber panels in consideration, perhaps a 2013 z06 would be a better comparison with the coupe? At 3175 curb weight, that's 180 lbs difference, add 15-20 lbs for the targa top... The coupe could possibly be around 3100 lbs?

Your forgetting the additional weight to the LT1 engine, torque tube etc. Figure 3350 pounds give or take a few....

I was being fair I think? Let us hope this is close to the actual weight

Yes, you most certainly were. I'm hoping so to.

3,300 to 3,350 lbs is good as far as I'm concerned... I hope your math is correct.

Using OP's base (good one in my opinion), I would further refine by:

Reducing the SMC body panels by 37 pounds (per GM), yet adding back my wild estimate of an additional 14 pounds for extra infotainment "stuff and other interior enhancements," I am guessing, starting with the OP's original calculations, that the final weight will be 3233. The 2013 base C6 was 3208.

Hopefully at the Bash at the National Corvette Museum, in just 18 more days, we get the final HP, final TQ, and the final weight numbers.

Yes I think that 3250 give or take a few is very possible.
Would really like to see it in the 31xx range but I'm not too confident about that happening.

They also got about 4 lbs from suspension, 12.5 from each subframe according to the releases

There is also the Z06. That's a 427 not not a vert.

I've been estimating 3200-3300, so I am in agreement with the OP. Would be nice if it was closer to 3200, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

This is another stupid discussion. The car is pretty much finalized for production. The weight is whatever it is. The taillights are the way they are. It's too late. It is what it is. If you don't like the car, don't buy it. You can buy one and change it if you like. Or, you can design and build the car you want.

I was told the interior did indeed add some weight but he didn't say how much and I would imagine that would depend on what trim level you get.

I just wonder what weight was "left on the table" so that it could be removed from the performance version.
