I haven't had a CD player in my car since 2004. No, since 2001. No, since 1996. No, since... damn, I've never had a CD player in my car.

CD players are a bit outdated now. Plug in your USB with a few thousand songs on it.

CD's are SO old school now. In a couple more years they will be as archaic as the 8 track, cassettes and everything else. Can't even get a drive on a new Mac computer now at all. Life moves on

I have a CD player in my car... that being said I hardly use it.
I just plug my mp3 player or a jump drive into my usb port and call it done.

What's a CD?

Ok I'll admit, they have much better sound than downloaded mp3's, but thats what I have a computer for... to put it on my iPod.

Buy higher quality MP3s. IE don't buy MP3s with a bit rate of 128 Kbps or less

Default What about library books

Like to listen to books from the library when on longer trips (yes, we take trips in the Vette). So what do we do?

You will have to get a stand alone CD player and plug it into the systems external jack.

I have an older unit (with an option to put another 2 gigs in it) and I have about 6 or or seven hours worth of music. I could get more in it if I went with lower quality audio. (a hell of alot more)

Newer mp3 players/ipods you can pretty much quadruple that and get out for under 200 dollars easy.

EDITORS note: there's some really good deals on newegg and you can get 8 times the amount of music for about 150 to 250. That should be more than enough songs for ya Plus if you get tired of hearing a song? Just erase it, and put something else in. No shuffling between cds either, or burning cds to get a variety of music. Just hit the shuffle button and you're good to go.

Not only that, but most of the good ones come with wifi capability. Hell if you wanna cheap out you can get an 8 gigs player for 10 bucks on amazon.com it's a barebones mp3 player with jack for features and I wouldn't trust the quality but you could. (mine is an old 2 gigs Creative Zen if I remember right)

I've never used the CD-player on my FRC(has the factory cd system). My last C5 had an alpine unit and I just had a cable run to my ipod touch. The cd-player had a tendency to skip on the roads.

I guess I'm the exception here but I use the MP3 disc player all the time in my C6 and Prius and the twelve disc changer in my C5. I have about 9000 MP3's on my computers and tons of home burned CD's and MP3 discs. I don't own an MP3 Player and never wanted one. The only time I play music is in my cars and sometimes on the computer when I'm doing work on it. I would certainly miss the multiple disc players in the cars.

Wow, I am totally out of touch with the music stuff. ipods, 64 gig iphones hooked up to your car. 13,500 songs on your phone. I feel like I just crawled out of a cave. I do have a couple of old 8 track players in the attic! I use the seek button on the radio till it hits a song I wanna hear.
