I know. There just isn't anything to share yet. I was just posting in response to the video that you had posted some time ago that I missed. I figured I could at least answer that item for you. Don't expect much about those options until Late fourth quarter 2013 / first quarter 2014.
So its a "late availability" option? Or is that when they will be announcing the z06 or whatever?
Can anyone advise me how to get an order going pending this option?
I think I will have to buy another car soon to carry me over till the C7 arrives..
My dealer informed my yesterday that they cannot order my C7 with this option until way later. They can hold my order and I'd eventually get my car in May or April if I still wanted this option.
I told them to remove it and place my order.
Ask your dealer. I'm sure they'll tell you the same thing.
I will keep checking on these pages and contact a dealer once they start delivering.
Just bought a car to carry me over till the C7 is available, so no rush.
Is there any way to know when this option will become available?
Or just order the car as soon as I can test fit one with Competition Seats and helmet on wait till it shows up with the options?
I am leaning away from the factory competition seats, just to save weight and cost. I can get two FIA approved seats that weighs less than 20 pounds each for a lot less than the $2000 the factory wants. Total weight savings should be in the 50 pound range, negating the harness and harness bar needed for safe track operation. I also get to keep the original seats, which will be in pristine condition. We might even see some seat makers making a seat that will allow the C7 side airbag assemblies to be attached, so we are better protected in an "incident".
I do want to learn more about the data recorder. I recall the first time I watched my own in-car video of a SCCA race. My heart level increased as I re-lived the event. That was so cool! We can learn so much about car setup and driver improvements by looking at data and video after-the-fact. If it's $500, that is money wisely spent, compared to an optional paint color or some interior embroidery.

Be aware that if your aftermarket seats don't have side air bags, your insurance will not cover anything medical related because you've changed the safety components and configuration of the car.
So, if i ordered the 3LT & Z51 package id get a front cam with a recorder??
Another Q, does it come with a rear cam..??
It's an option you have to add on. I don't know if it's required to have the Z51 package or not. It definitely doesn't matter what xLT package you get.
However, it's not something you get automatically. My dealership told me that if I wanted the option, I'd have to wait until 2nd quarter next year to get my car.
