I'd love to add this too. Maybe with the GM MyLink SDK we can at least get GPS coordinates exposed in an API? That way someone could write up an app that at least does accurate lapping?

Just so you understand: you're going to be waiting for a while. Like into next year, if not longer. The business case for the system and option hasn't gone through yet, from my understanding. It's still very much a work-in-progress kind of thing, so I'd stop holding my breath were I you.

OTOH it would suck if I get it delivered and it becomes available.

I just think it could be such an awesome OEM feature to have without having to go after market, build stuff in, splice into Canbus etc.

 

Yep. I removed that option from my order because my dealer said I wouldn't get my car until 2nd quarter next year if I kept it.

Sounds like an awesome feature. I was already looking to order next year (getting married and looking to buy a house in the next six-eight months). Getting this option sounds like another benefit, like the potential for an upgraded 8-speed auto.

This would really be for cars that get tracked anyway so I would not be surprised if it was part of a track pack.

For example a Z51 with all go-faster options and maybe something unique like bigger brakes, more brake cooling, better tires, something like that.

 

Seeing how this is a track orientated feature I would expect it to be announced around the same time of the high performance model.

Also, since the infotainment system is open to the addition of apps, I'm hoping that it wouldn't be too difficult to add this feature to a car later on.
