I can hear it now. "The DCT transmission is ideally suited to the car and delivers maximum performance and fuel economy over the obsolete 6 speed automatic."
Like the sun rises and sets my friend! GM is so predictable at times it makes me feel like a psychic! I can hear it at the bash already.. "Oh Well way back in 2014 we had no idea that 8 speed automatic would be in the 2015s"

Yes they are quite predictable. Unfortunately some of those people that are rushing out to get the 2014 are going to take a bath on trade-in when the DCT is introduced. I guess if you have lots of money that's not an issue.
but it would be fun to have one in a few weeks and turn heads! I like when people walk up and ask questions. That is something you only see with a C1,C2 or a new one.
I was thinking more along the lines of the base c6 vs the grand sport as well as interior changes such as the carbon fiber console in model years 2008 and after compared to the silver/grey console in years 2005 - 2007. Also in the c4... Years 1984 - 1989 had a more inverted rear and years 1990 - 1996 had a more rounded rear. Not to mention the original C4 entirely digital dash changing to mostly analog in the 1990 model year and up.
If you want to argue that the base c6 is an "entirely" different car than the grand sport then let me qualify my initial statement to include cosmetic changes to the stingray's next evolutionary performance upgrade in the upcoming model years...whatever it may be called.
Yes, I agree but the GS is technically a different model, identical exterior to a Z06 except for the side vents. The C4 change in 1992 on the rear was inspired again by the ZR1 introduced in 1990. Plus, the C4 ran for 13 years and the C3 ran for 16 years. I hope they don't do that again. I was really sick of the C3 after just 10 years.
The GS was just created due to the unintentionally long C6 production period...kinda like the ZR-1...
Expecting cosmetic upgrades after one year of production is wishful thinking...the car isn't even out and you guys want something else. To be honest the more I hear about how people dislike the way the car looks, the more I like it, maybe it's the whole "rebellious" side of me wanting something that ruffles the feathers of the "OLD guard".
Or it could be that I really just like the booty on this car...

Thanks - that's what I was looking for originally; the typical introduction cycle.
Issues with the first model year "ultimate driving machine" aka BMW 335i included stalling and no starts that required a class action lawsuit and a couple different government threats for BMW to swap out the fuel pump. The ultimate leasing machine is the new marketing / development model for them; hence my step away from the brand. The rest of the issues were annoyances - all could have been mid-model year just as well to be fair, but this sums up my limited concern on the C7 pretty well;

Big Detroit supporter as I grew up as "car kid" from Michigan and I spent over 17 years myself supporting GM, Ford, Chrysler, or tier 1's in IT but, that does not mean I am a blind supporter either. I really, really like the C7 and just looking for the little nudge to jump into 2014 versus waiting....gulp...another calendar year.
Wow, the discussion of the rear end of the Corvette comes up more than Beyonce or JLows posterior in TmZ, Dub magazine, and YouTube videos of said combined. Um, obsess much?

My five year old Z06 still turns heads. Driving down the Interstate and people pull up along side and take photos. I stop in a convenience store, and people ask questions. Washing it in my driveway, and people out for an evening walk say "I like your car" or "beautiful car" or from a teenager on a bike, "is that a Z06 or a ZR1?"
So we are in the 2014 new model start-up of production.
When do you think the 2015 order, build, delivery timeframe will be?
I am on the edge for a 2014 with just a few little things holding me back:
1) First year model run...
2) What will the 2015 address from a cosmetic and issue perspective that they will learn from the first year production run...
3) First year model run.
I have only bought one other car in it's first year run, a BMW 335i, and I guess thinking back I am not sure I want to repeat that decision. If I had bought the second year run I would still happily have that twin turbo devil. First year issues... bad fuel pump, no oil cooler, suffered through multiple dealer installed software 'upgrades' that downgraded performance, **** poor run flat tires...
I'd like my first corvette to last me for awhile and not sour me on the brand.
I am with you and I am holding out for a 2015 as well.
New model launches are getting better but there still find some things to improve upon in the first year. Testing can only do so much and real world experience with a lot of cars on the road provides tons more data.
Redoing an entire production line is a major project and invariably areas for improvement will come to light fairly quickly once the line starts pumping out cars.
I understand all the folks that want one right away but I would rather wait a year as I intend to keep the car for a very long time.
Because the current 2014 model has Camaro tail lamps, a limited visibility 1984 Celica GT style liftback hatch, and a horribly busy and Batmobile looking back end?
I too am sitting out the C7 until it looks like a Corvette from every angle, and has better and safer rearward visibility (ala the Glassback from 1978 to 2013).
That reply was to include a quote asking why wait for a later model C7, and my response is immediately above. I know quite a few other Corvette fans feel the same way, and hope GM responds...

It's the way of the world...new tech makes old tech worth less and...dare I say...obsolete.
How much off a new 2013 can I get a new Z06 for? $17k...$20k? How much less is your used Z worth now at trade in?
When did a Corvette get cosmetic upgrades since the C3? Not counting new models like ZR1 or Z06.
Well, C4 had several styling upgrades (new front fascia, square tail-lights,etc.
The only "cosmetic" C5/C6 model year upgrade I can think of in recent history (not including color changes, wheels, etc.) is removing the exterior passenger-side door lock on the 2000 C5.
Given the hysterics over the C5's fat *** and the C6's exposed headlights, and how quickly those changes were undone, I'm thinking those waiting for the rear end to change will need to wait for the C8.
I definitely see a widebody version in the future, as well as aero add-ons for the hipo versions, maybe some changes to the side vent for those versions as well, and of course the stingray badge.
Other than that I don't think the car will change until the next gen.
