2015 model timeframe?
So we are in the 2014 new model start-up of production.
When do you think the 2015 order, build, delivery timeframe will be?
I am on the edge for a 2014 with just a few little things holding me back:
1) First year model run...
2) What will the 2015 address from a cosmetic and issue perspective that they will learn from the first year production run...
3) First year model run.
I have only bought one other car in it's first year run, a BMW 335i, and I guess thinking back I am not sure I want to repeat that decision. If I had bought the second year run I would still happily have that twin turbo devil. First year issues... bad fuel pump, no oil cooler, suffered through multiple dealer installed software 'upgrades' that downgraded performance, **** poor run flat tires...
I'd like my first corvette to last me for awhile and not sour me on the brand.
There will be first year teething problems that effect some cars. I had two first year C6s and they had zero problems. I had a fifth year C5 that had all sorts of problems. So to me it proves nothing.
2015's will go into production in late June next year if they follow tradition, and there will likely be one change - an eight speed automatic.

That is my fearless prediction.
Along with the higher horse power models ......... Which, I am hoping this time around have the automatic. If they do, my s/o's objections to the new design are a moot subject.
. . . [What will be] . . . the 2015 order, build, [and] delivery timeframe? . . . [What will Chevrolet] learn from the first year production run . . . ?
Jack, your instincts are the same as mine. Good questions.
Tadge Juechter's enthusiasm about "only two parts being carried over from the C6" suggests there are going to be more than a few "test and development drivers" among the C7's new owners, and I'd just as soon not be one of them, much as I admire the car and what Chevrolet has accomplished in bringing it to market.
If you had problems with the ultimate driving machine in the first year of production that you got resolved but want slightly less possibility of a recurrence.....than wait a second year ...
The anticipation is half the fun anyway.
Usually all cars have a few call backs to update software or a few hard parts in the first year....traditionally it's seamless yet if you have an aversion and don't need to get out of your current ride...
I've bought new models in their first year of production in the past and as many have stated had no issues.....
Maybe I'm the only one that is thinking this way but...all this talk about "The HIGH PERFORMANCE MODEL" coming in 2015 model year seems premature to me. I would expect it as a 2016 or 2017 model year. Just my thoughts...call me a pessimist.

I don't disagree with your thoughts but there will be performance enhancements all along the way. The timing will most likely be driven by rates of sales and how the market responds rather than by engeneering. If sales are great then enhancements can wait. If sales are slow then enhancements will come along faster. Just my thoughts
The 15s may get a 15-25 hp bump across the board as I think the LT1 is capable and C6s should be cleared out by then. And maybe the 8 speed with any luck.

Sales has a huge impact on new options/models. Engineering is a big deal, but it has to fit with sales and marketing.
lol, I think the answer is obvious. Since there are usually minor cosmetic changes each year during the lifecycle of any car including the vette. I think most would agree, the rear end would be voted the most popular aspect of the car for this to happen.
First will be the NCM bash in April of 2014 Tadge will be there with the new 2015s bragging about all the improvements they made over the 2014s, and additional new options, features and new colors. The 2015 order guide will be at dealers in early May. The first 2015 Corvettes will start production at the end of June 2014 with dealer deliveries in mid to late August 2014.

When did a Corvette get cosmetic upgrades since the C3? Not counting new models like ZR1 or Z06.

I can hear it now. "The DCT transmission is ideally suited to the car and delivers maximum performance and fuel economy over the obsolete 6 speed automatic."

The C4 got some cosmetic changes; but the C5 and C6 were visually identical throughout their run except for different wheels every three years, and the necessary changes for the high performance models.
Well, the emblems got a change so small that not even most Corvette owners noticed it, and the chiclets arrived on the C6 and then disappeared a couple of years later when management finally realized that "GM" was an embarrassment.

I was thinking more along the lines of the base c6 vs the grand sport as well as interior changes such as the carbon fiber console in model years 2008 and after compared to the silver/grey console in years 2005 - 2007. Also in the c4... Years 1984 - 1989 had a more inverted rear and years 1990 - 1996 had a more rounded rear. Not to mention the original C4 entirely digital dash changing to mostly analog in the 1990 model year and up.
If you want to argue that the base c6 is an "entirely" different car than the grand sport then let me qualify my initial statement to include cosmetic changes to the stingray's next evolutionary performance upgrade in the upcoming model years...whatever it may be called.
