Nobody is talking about this now but the price of gas has become pricey again. My Chicago land area that I live in has the highest gas prices in the country now. Will the high gas prices have an affect on the Corvette sales? Only 13,000 2013 Corvettes were sold this past year. I don't know what the gas mileage is on the 2014 Corvette, but I would think it's not that good. That being the case, I'm wondering how many people are going to buy the 2014 Corvette if the gas prices remain high.
They may get some people switching over to C7's from thirstier cars.
This is not meant to be a criticism of the C7 just a reality.
For the first couple years of every generation there seems to be problems. What problems/malfunctions do you see with the C7 for the first few years?
Do you think we'll have flying roofs again like we did with 2005-2006
C6 models or anything that serious?
A lot of people I've spoken with are concerned about AFM, but that technology has been around since the 90s I believe.
Thoughts?
Being involved in quality while supplying parts to the automotive companies for many years I have observed the details that were involved in the development of new designs. I must say that GM has continued to made great advances in this area. They also have manufactured some of the best looking cars in my opinion which is just another aspect of their efforts to improve.
GM and Ford have made great strides in doing things right the first time. I would be extremely surprised if there were major issues but there will be some minor issues because engineering always like to push the limits. OF course if you purchased cars in the 1970 era, the only direction they could go was up.
Bottom line – sure there will be a few recalls and there will be corrections / improvements in the next several years, but the risk of anything serious is minimal in my opinion. When you look at the recalls for GM vehicles it is fairly impressive in the few that they have had with recent models
As said before, it will be interesting to see what the first complaint on the C7 will be on this forum besides waiting for their cars.
Looking back to the 2005 C6, customer preference directed GM to make computer software changes, etc. The C7 has more computer enhanced systems and my guess there are some functions operators will not like. I expect changes to reflect operator preference. Other than refinement I think reliability will be outstanding. Options: Hopefully, magnetic ride will be made available on non Z51 cars.
In YOUR PERSONAL CASE that is apparently true in terms of not satisfying you. There have undoubtedly been other such examples. Would likewise be true of every other manufacturer of EVERYTHING since the beginning of time. Is GM any different than any others? Probably not appreciably so.

Hmmm, let's analyze this ... Do you think 2013 Corvette sales were based on gas prices ... or the fact that everyone knew ... There was a whole new car coming out for 2014!!!
Had my first close-up of C7's and I don't know if anybody else has noticed what I think is a serious problems with the brakes. The bleeder valve is on the outside of each wheel, is clearly visible and easy to access. Easy for somebody to open the valves a half-turn if they have something against Corvettes and cause serious problems down the road.

Now you've done it! My wife is going to see that, turn the valve , and I will die going down the mountain. Oh in inhumanity of it all.
