Certainly, the first of the first will present many issues.
Column lock issue comes to mind.

otherwise just typical build-quality stuff that gets fixed during the first couple of years of new gen vehicles.
Carbon build up has been addressed. No build up has been seen after testing.

Please elaborate, and support this with some links to some substantiated facts.

There have been quite a few articles written about the LT1 that mention the enhanced, under the valve cover PCV system with oil/air separators that send the oil back to the crank case, and the gases to to the intake. This should greatly reduce carbon build-up on the valve stems. Eliminate it completely? I would be skeptical, but to reduce it enough that a top engine clean treatment every 15K miles would do the trick, would be reasonable.

Default Just Wondering

Nobody is talking about this now but the price of gas has become pricey again. My Chicago land area that I live in has the highest gas prices in the country now. Will the high gas prices have an affect on the Corvette sales? Only 13,000 2013 Corvettes were sold this past year. I don't know what the gas mileage is on the 2014 Corvette, but I would think it's not that good. That being the case, I'm wondering how many people are going to buy the 2014 Corvette if the gas prices remain high.

happens a lot when a person's lust is greater than his income. Don't have any stats but would guess that it is more prevalent with younger folks(the one's the c7 has targeted).

I agree. Last Saturday our club drove 250 miles round trip for lunch. I had to decide whether to drive my Z06(27-28 MPG) or my 64 coupe(18-20 MPG). Gas is $3.93 here for premium.

I drove the 64 even though I was spending more money for gas.

Spent $50 in gas for a $15 lunch. It was worth it. Now way would I have spent $2 to drive my Mercedes 8 miles round trip here in town, to have a $63 lunch.

Then I wish BMW could resolve the DI Carbon Problem. Have a 135 09 Vert and no problems but only have 20,000 miles. Lots with higher mileage ones are going in for Walnut Shell blasting. One the list for a C7 at MSRP and hopefully Callaway.

Well, on a positive note... I test drove a Caddy with rev matching 2 weeks ago and it works flawlessly and is really cool. Actually, the tranny was the best part of the car.

DI has been in the 3.6 V6 for several years now with no material reported issues, so I would expect that to be fine in the C7.

I have to tell you paying $73,000 plus tax for a Corvette makes $4.00 gas a minor problem. At least the new car runs on regular unleaded. I know the Hertz C6 cars did. I saw at least two filling up near the airport in San Francisco.

Well, not until the rise in shipping cost drives the price of everything else up, and companies start laying people off to compensate. Then sales drop and more people get laid off. Might see a slight drop in luxury sports car sales. So I wouldn't say "zero" affect.

I think the major part of the recession is over, but not for everybody. The projected total auto sales in the US this year is projected to be fifteen million, if they sell 30,000 Corvettes that is two tenths of one percent..or .002 percent..

No one has a crystal ball, and who cares anyway?

I'd rather get the car now and start enjoying it, and if any problems arise, I'll get them fixed

To me, that beats sitting back for a year or 2 speculating

To each his/her own

Gee, for a pointless thread it sure did generate a lot of discussion. At least this thread offered something with some substance and interesting speculation to talk about. Just look at the topics being added to the C7 forum lately. Yawn.

No, not me. I think the C6 AND C7 are great, amazing cars. I even love the rear on the C7, just look at my avatar.

For the first couple years of every generation there seems to be problems. What problems/malfunctions do you see with the C7 for the first few years?

Do you think we'll have flying roofs again like we did with 2005-2006
C6 models or anything that serious?

A lot of people I've spoken with are concerned about AFM, but that technology has been around since the 90s I believe.

Thoughts?
Pretty hard to predict that. But the main one I would be wary of, are the DI problems. However, I also expect GM has done a lot of homework on that, so hopefully it won't be an issue at all.

Other than that, the C7 looks like it will be a much harder car to wash & detail than perhaps any other Corvette. As there seem to be a lot more crevices for gunk to accumulate.

Meth injection steam cleans the cylinder and the build up on intake valves of carbon/deposits so for N/A applications it will have to be activated by a MAF switch.

Meth cant be injecting it into deactivated cylinders. You will have to use a hob switch to use it only under high enough load that the cylinders will be activated.
