If chrome is for us old farts then I guess the saying "with age comes wisdom" is correct.

I would go black also. I love the way the wheels disappear while moving and all you see is the calipers and disks. Kinda makes it look like the car is floating.

Black wheels all look the same as it's difficult to see any definition cause they are black. With black wheels looks like something one would find on a work truck, military vehicle/government vehicle, police vehicle etc where no attention is wasted on beauty or anything to enhance the "look" of the vehicle( unless one is going for the Darth Vador, Batman look etc). Chrome is too bright and looks like something Rodney Dangerfield would run around in. Silver wheels are just right for any color Stingray IMHO.

Sorry guys not a big fan of black wheels. Love Chrome wheels. Loved them on my sold last spring z06.

I like the white car with chrome wheels and white spoiler and mirrors. To me not so "busy" . Fact few other things that think factory should offer is body color painted lower rear valance and possibly body color hood insert, grill ,intakes as well.

For my c6 z06 I bought but never installed Racemesh inserts for grill, side etc in Black Chrome . I thought they looked great in pictures that looked at. My 2008 z06 was silver.

Also not sure how much like exposed carbon fiber roof but think they would look best with some matching side skirts and front spoiler and possibly rear spoiler.

I just saw a 2007 atomic orange z06 at dealership few days ago here and the guy had added zr1 side skirts and front spoiler and looked great. Was just thinking would have looked even better with carbon fiber spoiler and door handles.

It's very simple for me if you want your Vette to look like a dull taxi cab or police car go with black wheels..If you want it to make it pop no matter what color the Vette is go with chrome or painted silver or brushed alum or anything else that's bright JMHO!!

My opinion is that black wheels detract not add (agree with some that it looks tougher, but in a tank sort of way), chrome wheels are pretty old school and you do see them on the Lexus more often than not. I will go with painted, nice middle road and when I see a set that really does the car justice, get those. I will be looking to freshen it up in a year anyway.
This post makes the most sense to me cost wise. Since I will be buying a non-Z51 Coupe, Chrome ($1995) and the mysterious Machine Faced Wheel ($1495) would be an expensive waste if a better alternative became available in the aftermarket soon. I do not like selling stuff myself so the base rims will be stored, maybe offered for sale on CF. I like this plan having the opportunity to up grade in about a year. There should be plenty of wheels by then to choose.

well, its not that simple. Sounds like what you're really saying is (like so many others on here)

If you agree with my taste buds, you're awesome, otherwise your choice sucks

I kind of like the black wheel look. Problems are

1. Murder to keep clean

2. Lose the wheel design in all the blackness when they are sitting still.

3. Give the car an empty wheel well look when moving.

4. Need to be used only when you can carry the black look to the car. That is in the trim etc. with the new C7 that works.

Yup. The black looks fine on lighter colors, but is a tough call on dark colors. I personally can't stand black wheels on a black car. It doesn't look tough, it looks dirty.

The funny thing about the self-appointed hipsters here claiming black wheels are "in" (and trashing chromies) is that they are pairing them with painted calipers because they also claim the painted calipers are "in". Sorry dudes, painted calipers are on the decline. I know they can look great, but you aren't as hip as you think.

Flame away friends.

I actually agree with this, and with Bill; As stated before, it works. great with certain colors, and certainly with trim components that are black.

I ran screaming from the colored caliper look. Standard Black Z51 Caliper for me.

I actually prefer Silver to Chrome, and if I get another set of rims, would compliment my black wheels with a set of Silver.

Doesn't mean there is anything wrong with Chrome (my Challenger RT actually has chrome wheels), just loved the Black with my color combo.

Everyone likes what they like, and that's all that matters.

As my Daddy always said

"If ya don't have anything nice to say....."

I really don't like the black wheels and I really dislike the chrome. I ripped the chromes I paid so much for right off my ZO6 at 3000 miles and went comp gray. I really hope they reintroduce another gray wheel more like the Ferrari's wheels etc. To me it's the best of both worlds. If I were ordering a C7 now I would get the Z51 wheels in silver and have them refinished immediately in one of the killer gray colors
