Anyone have any concerns when driving a convert with top down for any carjackings or other problems. It seems that you are a lot more vulnerable in a convertable
When was the last time you heard of that happening?
Lots of guys in our Corvette Club have verts with no problems. A guy at Cars n Coffee drove his C5 vert across most of Route 66 and back (alone) last summer and had a great time. There are a bunch of Ferrari and Lambo verts there that aren't molested. I've rented convertibles in California and Florida with no problem. (OK, so maybe no one cared enough about a Mustang to bother me, but the Volvo was nice.)
I brought this up because about a yr ago in Orlando a Corvette convertable was hijacked. But when the perp got into the car, he couldn't drive a stick and was caught shortly after running on foot.

That's why you can legally carry a firearm in the united states. I don't think a vert makes you more of a target. I think the assumption that most people are all waiting unarmed, to be victims, is what makes you a target.

Don't know if the stats can be tracks but I'm sure more coupes have been car jacked than convertibles. I seriously doubt he was target because a convertible is "easy" prey. Be aware of your surroundings at all time, it should become second nature. Get a weapon and stand your ground if necessary.
I have been driving vette converts since I was 17 and having now owned 20 of them I never have had even one of them vandalized in any way much less carjacked.
In the American state of Florida we have concealed carry. If a carjacker approaches comly ask if he has ever met Mr. Rev, then pull up Mr. Revolver and stick it up the left nostril and tell him you have now met Mr. Rev.
Down here the perp doesn't know what the other person is packing and that includes little ole grandmas. It is a deterint.
I was carjcked in Memphis in 1997, in my then new (less than 2 months old, 1,250 miles) Corvette. Top was on, windows were down waiting on a friend in a gas station parking lot. I was looking down at the radio and was taken completely by surprise. One second I'm messing with the radio, the next I have a gun against the side of my head with someone telling me to get out... I got out.
They found my car less than 10 miles away in an industrial park against an office building, which it had hit at high speed.
The guy's finger prints got him caught, 16 years old. I got my car back 7 momths later (was never right) which I promptly sold.
Convertible, coupe, or tank. Be aware of what's going on around you!
Back in 1985 when I was driving home from the small rural dealership where I had ordered and bought my C4 the thought occurred to me that the vehicle I was driving was worth an amount of money that people have been known to kill other people for. So I cranked up Betty Davis Eyes on the new-fangled Bose Corvette sound system, down shifted 4+3 tranny into second, marveled at my digital dash display, banked into a canyon curve and never thought about it again
