So Mike, are you saying the CTEK Multi US 3300 will work 24/7 in the lighter socket even with the key off? Wonder why GM didn't make the factory tender to work that way?

That's how I thought it worked. Thanks.

Final answer: The only "cigarette lighter" outlet in the C7 that is active all the time - regardless of whether the car is "on" or not is the one in the rear of the car. The ones up front - both in the center console and the pop-up one in front of the cupholder - are NOT active unless the car is turned on. Period

Furthermore, the outlet in the back is wired and active regardless of whether you order the factory "Battery Protection Package" or not.

This is all CLEARLY spelled out in the Owners Manual. If you don't have one yet, there is a link at the very top of this section where you can download one and read it and refer to it anytime you have a question about the car.

You are obviously not a car collector, so don't worry about it.

It is $100 better spent than folks who are buying the Z51 that have absolutely no interest in it other than resale. My crystal ball says those folks are going to be sadly disappointed. (And yes, I agree the Z51 is a great package at a great price, IF the buyer values the content.)

By the way, shouldn't this thread have been moved to a "battery tender" thread? Sorry for the off-topic contribution, too.....

I’m buying the factory battery tender because I will need one for this vehicle whether I buy the factory one for the inflated price of $100 or a store one for $25. If I’m going to be paying almost $58K out the door for this car, what’s an extra $75 net for it. Maybe in 20 years this might be a very unique item on the window sticker, as fast as technology is changing.

Also, I’m not buying this car as an investment, because I would consider it a poor one at that. I’m buying it because I like it and want one. I would only expect to get my money back at best after 20 years if I had 20K miles on it and it still looked like new. Probably wouldn’t start to see a small return until it was over 30 years old.

As far as the Z51 package, I agree that if people are only getting it because they think they are going to make money on it, they will be sorry. Right now it looks like more than 60% are Z51’s and would probably be closer to 80% if it were not for the constraints on it.

It did sort of get off track when the original question was on the allocation process. Funny how a $100 option turned out to be such a hot topic.

One question that did not get answered yet, does anyone know when the last orders will be accepted to get a 2014 built?

I believe others in the Forum have said May. Sounds right to me for model year changeover.
