I DD my car. It's got ~5500 miles on it so far, and it is just about 6 months old (a few days shy), but most of those miles were from driving from Chicago to the corvette museum and then to North Carolina, and back. It mostly sits in my garage or at my local train station. I bought it to enjoy it, and while my drive to and from the train station is about a 6 mi round trip, I find it usually the best part of my day. I wouldn't change it at all.

But I bought my car to drive it. I take care of it the best I can, I wash her and wax her as often as weather allows, but not driving her and keeping her chained up in the garage should be a crime.

Great input guys. I like the fact that most of you drive your vettes every day.

I have a 2011 Camaro SS convert currently. Soon to upgrade to a C7 Z51 Convert (on order). Long ago I came to the conclusion that life is too short to drive boring cars. I drive it every day unless it's snowing or really crappy, which is when I take my truck and leave the Camaro in the garage. We're talking about a Chevy here after all - a somewhat expensive one, but a Chevy none the less.

I have a long commute, and enjoy driving a car that entertains me. I've calculated that I spent over 900 hours in the Camaro in the last three years, and figure that if I am going to spend that kind of time in a car, I may as well have a good time doing it!

it's meant to be driven, not parked.

I drive mine the 4 mile round trip to work everyday.

I had to take some road trips to make it past the break in period.....

Now I average about 200 miles per month including my weekend trips.

I drive mine every day that it's not snowing (it's garaged, so I'll drive it even if it's freezing cold) and the top comes off any time its over 55 degrees. My commute is 100+ miles each day and I smile every time I drive it. 7,000+ miles with no problems except a cracked windshield and 2 flats. AW non-Z 7M.

Higher gas usage.
Depreciate faster with more usage and miles.
More miles = higher insurance.
Can you park it where it's reasonably safe.
Would you be comfortable in a work car with limited interior room and
limited trunk space.

I live in Southern California with endless stop and go traffic probably not the place to drive a Corvette every day. If i lived in the country it might be a different story.
I also live in SoCal. I drive 30 minutes each way to work, at an average speed of ~20 MPH... I even drive a manual.

As my third commuter Corvette I can safely say I wouldn't drive anything else. If I'm going to be stuck in the crap, I might as well enjoy my ride as much as possible. The 'cost' of daily driving it is still lower than the cost of a second car that's remotely comparable. As for practicality, I fit my son's cello in the trunk and have fit $200 in groceries in the back (not at the same time). The car is plenty practical.

On a side note, I had a chance to get into a Z51 convertible, but opted not to because the trunk was just too small for my daily use. The coupe is working out just fine.

Sold my 08 z06 for a C7 so I could daily drive it.
Down here in S. FL, daily driven Vettes are common.

It's nice to have another car for those bad weather days, but if you can afford to drive it every day then I say drive it. It's going to depreciate whether you drive it or not and there's no sense in leaving it in pristine condition for the next owner.
