Not a real beef but ran into an older couple at a rest stop in southern GA Thursday morning and casually asked if they were enjoying their new Z51 and that I have one in Laguna Blue which I really like.
Well you would think I slapped their mama or something equally as offensive. I guess I did not look the part to them, I just shook my head and thought "what a couple of *****" and walked on. People like them are the reason some car lovers get a bad rap. oh well ...
Not really too weird, you just probably hit a couple that are not forum/museum/Vette people and traded their jag/mb on the Vette because it looked nice.

That could be the case. I am 70, and will stop and talk to anyone who's interested in the car. Five year old? Hop in! Thirty year old? Hop in and let me show you how the dash works.
I like to think I'm creating future 'vette enthusiasts.
I'm off to a cruise-in on Sat. AM - top on the C7 will be down, and the door will be open. C'mon in!

Good for you. I do the same and have even let some co-workers take it for a spin (as long as I am with them) Some of the parents at work ask if they can get pics with their kids and it's just great to see the smiles on the kids faces when they get to sit in the drivers seat.

What happened? Were you insulted because they told you that their Z51 was a stopgap car until their matching his and hers Z06's are delivered in January?
The new C7 was designed to sell to people who may not have purchased a Corvette in the past. Unfortunately they do not include lessons on the Corvette Culture in the owners manual...
When I purchased my 2007 Ron Fellows Edition Z06, I couldn't go anywhere without having to talk about this car. Mostly I didn't mind, but one time just after I was diagnosed with cancer I went for a drive and was sitting in a coffee shop and was approached by a couple who wanted to talk about Corvettes and my car. I kind of brushed them off and I heard the guy call me an ******* as he walked away. Maybe this couple who didn't want to talk cars with you had more important things to discuss with each other. So get over yourself.

I know first hand what that news does to you mentaly...Hope you're all good now.
As for the OP's couple they are still trying to decide if they have a Corvette or a z51...
Well hopefully just snubbed and not snuffed or there will be a nearly new C7 for sale by your family in beautiful N. central AL
Or maybe they are not as friendly as you are used to in the deep south (I grew up on the MS coast); there are some broad regional behavioral differences. After spending some time in the far northern plains I decided that having snowfall around 10 months out of the year makes a lot of people perpetually cranky.

As with any car brand, there are those that just buy the car as something to drive and have no interest in anything other than that. It most likely won't be the last time you run into people like that so just shake it off and remember, there are lots of owners that will thoroughly enjoy talking cars with you.

I'm on the forum but I did trade my Jag for the Vette because it looks nice. Right on!

What exactly, pray tell, is the Corvette Culture???
If it includes gold chains, chest hair, lots of Corvette clothing and joining a club count me out.
