Do all the completed cars sit outside at the plant?
Looks to be some very nasty weather(possibility of tornadoes, hail, etc.) heading towards BG over the next couple days and my car is one of the hundreds sitting there waiting for transport assignment so I was just wondering if all the cars sit outside or if they have a contingency for bad weather situations.

I heard that they have a huge bulldozer and when bad weather is forecasted they push all the assembly line equipment over to one side of the building, so they can move the completed cars back inside the building.

I recall those overhead shots when the first cars were coming off the line back last year. There were hundreds outside and having been there, I don't recall seeing any indoor parking for the cars.

Only the new ones sit outside. It's part of the paint curing process. The natural uv rays complete the clear coat bonding process with the sub-layer enamel coat. Once the process is complete they are moved to the under ground Corvette storage bunker until they are ready for transport.

And yet we still have folks that won't drive their Vette's in the rain and think it's never seen weather.
I saw a trailer full of new C6's a few years ago all covered in snow.

Every single post is just haven' fun with you. No harm intended. Every single Corvette is parked outside after it is completed while waiting to be loaded onto a transporter. That may be for two days or two weeks(cars going to museum, or cars being held because of a quality problem that has to be corrected). The lot holds some 1400 cars and there is no empty building in Bowling Green for them to park that many cars, much less underground.

I'm sure your car will be fine...Kentucky can get some weather and I've never seen hail damaged modern corvettes.

The last week of March, they had over 2000 cars parked in waiting, I was told by someone who was at the plant then.

Last year when the lot was completely full (prior to the release) we had severe weather in KY. Everyone was holding their breath. So far, there has never been any weather damage (that was made public) to cars parked out back at the plant in it's history. BG occasionally gets some pretty big storms. Knock on wood.

OP, good luck. I recall one of the early adopters even posted the weather radar image of the storm coming at the first 200 or so C7's. Even though mine wasn't built quite yet, it was still an anxious moment/day, etc.
You will LOVE this car!

You are paying no more and no less than most US car buyers for delivery. You deserve no better or no worse service than anybody else.
You are not paying for preferred, enclosed, express delivery. The Corvette is a mass produced, assembly line product made by a for profit US corporation. Get in line. You are not special.
Want to be special? Fork over 2-3 hundred grand for a Ferrari. Nowadays you have to pay to play. A $65,000 car with a $995 delivery charge ain't gonna cut it, bro. There are SILVERADO'S that cost as much as your previous Vette.

No sarcasm. Just some light humor. Odds are you will be fine but I have witnessed a parked car that went airborne and was deposited on top of another on the nearby Interstate. All happened in front of a trooper a few miles away. That was years ago.
I say your car will be just fine
