Orange....really?
First, color preferences CHANGE over time -- all the time. Today "white" is in. Just 5 years ago, white was considered boring. Today it's cool. Look at car colors of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. What was good looking then would look out of place today. When was the time you saw a car painted "plum crazy"?
Even "Ferrari red" has changed many times over the years to change with the time.
Second, color is a reflection of mood and emotion. Some cars types, shapes, and sizes seem to not fit those moods. Smaller sports cars and exotic shaped cars look better in brighter, flashier colors. Large sedans look better in muted colors like silvers and earth tones. Painted in the same color, it seems like overkill or out of character.
When was the last time you saw a Red Rolls Royce?
The most popular non-standard paint choice for McLaren?.... you can see it below.
So, don't take anyone's reference material as some kind of general statement for everything. It isn't and it's probably already obsolete information.
You want a good resale color for a Honda? Buy silver. Do you really believe that also applies itself to Corvette resale values?
I am a firm believer that people should buy what they like. Otherwise, everytime you look at it you'll say to yourself "it's nice but I really wish I bought ......"
How sad is that.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

If it's like a pumpkin, flat/matte orange, then it's a HUGE No for me!
DSOM and/or Atomic, in my opinion are two of the Nicest looking Vette colors out there and also make for some of the rarest Vettes (which make them more valuable in my opinion, since only 282 were made in 2006).
Most people either like the orange or not. There usually isn't much in the middle. I happen to be in the Really like it group and can't wait to see what they look like.
