Ummmm.... excuse me but this is just BS.

First, color preferences CHANGE over time -- all the time. Today "white" is in. Just 5 years ago, white was considered boring. Today it's cool. Look at car colors of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. What was good looking then would look out of place today. When was the time you saw a car painted "plum crazy"?

Even "Ferrari red" has changed many times over the years to change with the time.

Second, color is a reflection of mood and emotion. Some cars types, shapes, and sizes seem to not fit those moods. Smaller sports cars and exotic shaped cars look better in brighter, flashier colors. Large sedans look better in muted colors like silvers and earth tones. Painted in the same color, it seems like overkill or out of character.

When was the last time you saw a Red Rolls Royce?

The most popular non-standard paint choice for McLaren?.... you can see it below.

So, don't take anyone's reference material as some kind of general statement for everything. It isn't and it's probably already obsolete information.

You want a good resale color for a Honda? Buy silver. Do you really believe that also applies itself to Corvette resale values?

I am a firm believer that people should buy what they like. Otherwise, everytime you look at it you'll say to yourself "it's nice but I really wish I bought ......"

How sad is that.

Default Orange - It blends in

The Orange peel on the paint is now a "feature" for authenticity

Nope, no beer goggles. I just get tired of rude and trollish behavior hidden behind opinion and pretend stupidity. If it isn't pretend then my apologies to Doofuss.

Aesthetically I do like orange but it is not for me as a car color as I prefer something a little more subdued for lack of a better word.

Atomic Orange, if offered, would have been the color of my C7 since I loved the color on my C6. Guy who bought it, bought it for the color. Perfect color for a Longhorn alum too.

While I'm not a big orange fan I do love the brighter more colorful colors. I just can't see silver, gray, white or black as they are about as boring as boring can get. Yes the black cars are beautiful when clean, butt ugly when dirty. Silver, gray, white? I guess those are "old" folks colors? Not for me!

I think that if it's an orange like DSOM or Atomic, that it would look Awesome!

If it's like a pumpkin, flat/matte orange, then it's a HUGE No for me!

DSOM and/or Atomic, in my opinion are two of the Nicest looking Vette colors out there and also make for some of the rarest Vettes (which make them more valuable in my opinion, since only 282 were made in 2006).

Most people either like the orange or not. There usually isn't much in the middle. I happen to be in the Really like it group and can't wait to see what they look like.

A lot of things look good in Orange....Pretty much ahead of it's time, this is a 1985 stock color.

do you have any empirical evidence that proves people buy colors that they do NOT like?

Well said. This Orange hue will soon be yesterdays "plum crazy" and be out of date. White, Red, Black, Silver, Dark Blue are forever lasting colors and have been on cars for DECADES, orange is not. Why I say ORANGE is bad for resale in the future. Buy what you like? ABSOLUTELY but do it with caution that a fad color is going to cost you at resale time.
