True, but it does strap to the trunk lid before you close it and also has a strap that normally would attach to the wiper but could be attached to something under the hood. Opening the rear hatch is part of the installation and removal process. Fact remains that if somebody wants to steal it, there isn't much to prevent that. I use it more as a deterrent and primarily to keep the heat inside the car to a minimum while protecting the interior from the sun, dust, wondering eyes as well as people with sticky fingers.

Thanks for this tip! Just ordered one....more worried about a bird taking a dump in my car than intrusion...have a lot of seagulls close to the river here....but also will keep the interior cooler when it gets really hot and you can't crack the windows and use a sunshade with the top off, how can you?

Well, I suppose you could, but it would look really stupid and not accomplish anything but announce to the world that you are a d'bag!

That Pop Top is a good idea, regardless of whether someone might steal it or not.
We're all going to worry about our cars either way
