Without reading (just skimmed it) the whole thread, the dealer is allowed to fix the car.It really isn't that big of a deal.

Default Hood repaint - not me...

Another thing, you know what your dealer would tell you years from now when you try to trade your C7 in and they realize the hood was repainted? that your car is not worth as much as a car with no post-factory paint job....

I would get the factory painted hood.

My 2 cents...

I have finally decided this forum must be full of cry babies. Everything that may or may not be wrong, "Replace with new" "Have GM give you a new car" "I wouldn't accept it". And it you have to keep bringing up "If you pay x dollars for a car it should be totally perfect and never have a problem.
Get real. Warranties are there for a reason. Use it and move on. I've bought new vehicles, and had them sit at the dealer for months for repairs when they have been a first year vehicle. You are entitled to the vehicle you ordered and purchased, and to have any problems taken care of if issues arise. I joined this forum for the knowledge base not the cry baby, entitlement posts that I see 90 percent of each post. No wonder some people don't follow through on there original post, too much drama. Here have some with your show.

So you present us with a full paragraph of you crying about others crying?

Well that is helpful.

Find the right paint guy and he can re-shoot just that small spot. A repainted hood from somewhere other than the manufacture will never be the same.

I painted cars for a living years ago. You have no clue what you're talking about and your advice couldn't be more wrong.

See what buffs out then decide yes they can match it will it last and not fade no. Been my experience over the years heck I ride down the road pointing out bad paint match jobs to my wife.

Thanks to all who had input on my thread. I am opting for dealer to repaint the hood. Entirely. Dealer has a great body shop that a relative retired from recently. Everyone here had good and different opinions. Some I agree with, some I don't. Ain't America great? If I dont like the repaint result, I will have em do it over until I am completely satisfied.
This was a "courtesy delivery" and car was paid for before it hit the ground here in Fresno. Not MacMulkins fault or local dealers fault or even GM's for that matter. Stuff happens. Yes its a 70k car, but I've had worse things in life that I got through. Upon further inspection today of the factory protective transit cover, I noticed several pieces of gravel probably collected during the rail and/or truck trip. Could have been the cause. Maybe vandalism along the way. Either way I am confident that it will be corrected to my satisfaction. No worries here. Sorry to all the doomsayers and the like, I'm cool.
Thanks again to all...

Default Addendum...

Also...a very big THANK YOU to Glen E for his detailing advice and docs. His professional opinion on the damage was huge. He has class beyond comparison. He provides valuable detailing advice among many other things on his own good will. Great man, that Glen. We should all strive to take his "pay it forward" attitude.
Godspeed Glen... you are too cool!

I'm no expert but I have read on this forum that ones the dangers of a curtesy delivery is that you own the car when it shows up. I don't believe the curtesy delivery dealer owes you anything but standing by the car warranty. Obviously this is not a warranty issue. I believe your only recourse is an insurance claim against shipper. Again I'm no expert, I'm just repeating what I have read . Best of luck, I feel awful for you. It is not my car but it makes me sick

Repaints are never like factory and several years down the road could peel, fade or age differently. Not to mention that with metalic paint the angle of the metallic flakes during the repaint will not match the angle they were put down by the factory. Don't let your emotional desire to have the car now get the best of you.

Months down the road you may regret that decision and you could of had another new vette by then.
You used to be right but not anymore!
Your right they are better than the cheap paint and job GM has done.
A good painter can match it and it is better. Just make sure the hood is painted OFF the car with no blending! It just simply has to match with no blending to the other panels. The blending you DON"T WANT!

Part of my deal was the dealer ordering and installing the wing spoiler on mine. It came prepainted and was a horrible match. The dealer repainted and it matches perfectly.
