Mark so sorry about your hood. Dealer will be able to match your color just fine. I had the back half of my 2006 DSOM repainted in 2009 the match was perfect, today you can't tell its been repainted, so don't worry.
Hope you can get it soon, you are going to love it.
You used to be right but not anymore!
Your right they are better than the cheap paint and job GM has done.
A good painter can match it and it is better. Just make sure the hood is painted OFF the car with no blending! It just simply has to match with no blending to the other panels. The blending you DON"T WANT!
I've been through the "off the car" suggestion, and the high end paint shop that did a Viper trunk lid for me said to do it "on the car" if you don't want to see mounting bolts, etc., damage from wrenches, etc. They guaranteed it would be undetectable.
They double masked the entire car, and the job was absolutely perfect. When I traded it in, I told the dealer about the repaint, and he also said it was undetectable.
The car was silver metallic, if that could have a bearing.
Here's the latest... hood painted, looks perfect. No signs of repair work done. Couldn't be happier considering the circumstance.
Time to hit the road...
I'd give them one chance to match the paint with the understanding that if it doesn't meet your eye you want a new panel from GM. CRT is hard to match.
This method is the least intrusive and the chance of a perfect match is the same IMO.

Good for you Mark, enjoy your new ride with miles if smiles.
Yeah, the dealer will probably make sure it is on your Carfax report. Instant devaluation for non-factory paint.
Body shop paint and factory paint are two different deals.
Good luck on getting a painted hood from the factory.
ridiculous...on a new car you can match exactly, seen many in my day...
Shoot the small spot that means blending color over your clear then clear again not cool down the road! Best bet is remove the hood sand and re shoot but it has to match 100 percent. Lot of good paint shops can do it! Then you may have a better quality paint job than the cheap paint GM is using now!
News Flash GM on the C7 has went down hill!
