Hi, I am new to the Corvette Forum and thinking about ordering a '15. What are the favorite options others have been ordering and options i should stay away from based on the cost I am starting to do my homework but would like other opinions. Thanks

Geez that's a tough question. For me the Z51 package was an extremely important option because I wanted the split spoke wheels and bigger calipers and full length spoiler but in the 15's you can get the ZF1 appearance package if you just want the looks rather than the extra mechanical features of features of the Z51 which I've since found to be awesome.

I'd stay away from the competition seats unless you can sit in them first to test your comfort level, if they feel comfy then go for it because they sure do look bad@$$.

Thanks. Interesting about the seats. Very helpful.

Your question is too vague.....
What kind of driver are you? Track guy, daily driver, third car?
What's your budget?
What's important to you?
Have you looked at all the options avail at the build site?

Try and post completly so we can help.....

  • Either 2LT or 3LT
  • Navigation (standard with 3LT, optional with 1LT and 2LT)
  • Z51 (includes NPP)
  • FE4
  • MEL (7-speed manual with Z51)
This is my must-have list; yours could be quite different.

The Seats are "Ventilated", not Cooled. Have to get the 2LT or 3LT to get the Heated / Ventilated Seats Option. It's worth it for sure.

Also agree on the NPP, absolutely a must have.

Third car, no track. Driving a Saturn Sky Turbo Redline. Want to move up. Budget is max 75 but 70 more realistic. Love the Sky but want more performance and quality interior. Convertible probable but coupe with remove able top considered. Not sure of 2 or 3 LT. Z51 worth the extra $? Probable black and black top, Kalahari interior. Thanks.

Ventilated seats are great. Have them in my 14 Jeep GC. Wish I had them in my Saturn Sky. Does both the 2 and 3 LT non Z51 have them?

I would say Z51 if you're going to the track but looking at the issues some are having at the track I don't know.

What about Mag Select Ride Control and Rev Match. Worth it? NPP?

Can't comment on the Mag ride, but the NPP is well worth it. The sound is badass. Rev match comes standard.

I have the mag ride , I won't buy a car without it especially a C7. In tour mode my z51 rides very smooth on highways, switch to sport and it gets stiff with better handling, switch to track mode and it really stiffens up. My friend drove it and said the car has multiple personalities, drives smooth like a benz and then can be as firm as any 200k sports car. There is a reason why Ferrari uses it in there cars and they got it from GM.

Well, I have MAG Ride in mine. I haven't ridden in another C7 without it, but then again, I haven't ridden in another C7 Period. Besides, my Car would get jealous.

I also have Competition Seats. They aren't a "must have", but I love mine. Now I'm rethinking the term "must have". If they didn't come with my Car, which wasn't ordered by me but was from Dealer Stock, I probably wouldn't have missed having them. Now that I have them, my next Corvette would have to have them as well.

Like everything else, things are worth what you're willing to pay for them. I originally had a 1LT Z51 lined up with a local Dealer and would have been satisfied with it, but when the Car arrived they changed their tune on the selling price. I ended up finding mine out of State.

Here is a pic of mine. CGM, AR, COMP SEATS, NAV, 2LT, Z51, MAG RIDE, 7 SPEED MANUAL, PERF EXHAUST, CARBON FLASH MIRRORS / SPOILER, BLACK POWDER COATED WHEELS, RED CALIPERS.

I think that's everything. Current MSRP would be close to $70,000, so you have a whole bunch of things you could live without to get the Price where you want it. In my case, it was here it is, do you want it or not? I ended spending more than I planned, but it was worth it.

We (my wife) owned a Sky Redline a while back and it was a hoot. You are certainly going to want a Z51 with MSRC after driving the roller skate around. The Sky handles quite well and to match that you need the FE4 (MSRC). And at least a 2lt interior. Go to the Chevrolet Build Your Own page and play around with the other options for your own car, also go to the post your C7 pics, neat thread as it is showing a boat load of color and interior options. But only you can decide what is right for you, might email one of the forum vendors about your choices and get a feel about what has been hot or not. Good luck.

I think if you aren't going to track the car, a Base 2LT with NPP gives you everything needed.
By far the coolest must have option is NPP - it is quieter than the standard exhaust in touring mode (which is great if you need to make a cell phone call or just are on a long ride), and louder and throatier in the other modes.

And, as for the suggestion that you need Z51 with MRC to keep up with the handling of a Saturn Sky Redline - that comes from the many who haven't driven the Base C7.

As a minimum the 2LT option is probably the single best/most valuable option on new Vette.

It adds all the comfort/technology and cache features any modern day high performance sports car should have. Start with that and add other options to build your perfect Corvette.
