The Vette was always slower in the straight line, not necessarily because of power/torque.. but because the other cars shifted much faster. The 458, 12C and 911T all use dual clutch transmissions.

Will be interesting to see just how quickly the new Z06 can accelerate with the 8spd auto that has promised DSG-like quick shifts.

Yes I do remember that... The C6 Z was faster than the 458 by 2 seconds... Doubt the C7 could match that. Let's not make this a C6 v C7 thread tho.

Hopefully we will see a rematch with the C7 Z

Sex on wheels

Doesn't the RS7 hit 60mph in like 3.2 seconds? That's retarded for something that size

Power and Torque and weight are much bigger factors than the shifting speed! still yes a factor but minor to the others!
The C7 was lacking on the other 3.

the fact that they didn't use a Z51, MN7 and wasn't in Track Mode tells me that this comparison was total amateur hour.

I was specifically replying to the post above about a different comparison, that included a C6Z06. Not a C7.

I agree.
Also, in the auto, at certain speeds it will not kick down automatically...listen to the video...only against the Porsche did the vette sound like is was in the right gear ... Apparently by luck... Definitely amature hour for the testers !!!

Hah! I just started this thread on FerrariChat

http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/458...-have-say.html

a couple of days ago, comparing the 458 to the C7. You may find it interesting reading. The guys were only joking about banning me for it.....I think.

Also to those that say the base vette is not worth having, xtreme runs this same non z51 hard, for days on end at tracks all across the country, most people will not get close to pushing its limits. They did have to let it cool a few times but again 99% of owners will never treat their car like this

Yup. I did the same experience and you can tell the car was originally black when they have the doors open. none of the inner pieces or sill area have been wrapped.

Even the Lambo I was driving on theirs was boring and seemed worn out. Their Ferarri was having cooling issues... These cars get the ***** beat out of them all day all weekend.. It's wonder most of them still function.

I have several Exotics including a MP4-12c.

Although the C7 can not keep up with the Mclaren in performance I think it is 90 to 95% of the car the Mclaren is for 1/5th the money.

The C7 certainly can be built to beat any of the high HP exotics but it would be near impossible to match the build quality and the low production and design. That is probably the real difference in price.

The discount on the Mclaren from MSRP to what I paid exceeded what I paid for the C7. So really the only comparison I would make is the incredible value of the Corvette for how it performs.

I've had many exotics and now a C7.

The C7 is probably about what I thought it would be. A good daily driver. It's fast enough, easy enough to drive around, you can park it anywhere, and you don't get mobbed while driving it. It has good creature comfort, easy to drive long distances or for an extended time, and I have no issues at all about driving it anywhere without worry. It seems built proof. The car sticks well and is easy to drive hard.

It is not, however, exotic. You can see elements of basic Chevy poking out here and there, under the hood it looks like any other Chevy instead of a jewel, the interior is nice but the materials are not up to exotic status, the details seem like a mass produced car than something special.

The C7 sounds really good but not exotic. The steering is not definitely not exotic (the electric power steering I would say is probably it's weakest point when compared to a Ferrari for instance). The construction is not exotic as you can see wavy-ness and distortion looking down the plastic body panels you would never see in an exotic.

The current Auto box does not compare to a modern robotized gearbox or DCT. Hopefully the new A8 makes back up this ground.

None of these make it a bad car. All of these make it worth what Chevy charges for it or more ---but not 4 times it's price

There's a definite place for the C7 in anyone's garage. But, never confuse "performance numbers" with "perceived value". There's more than one way to go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and they are not all alike.

A C7 at the redline wil make you smile. A Ferrari 458 at it's 9 grand redline will make you cry.

Does anyone know what mode they were driving in if it wasn't in track mode?

Off of a roll I think the result would have been better had they been using the paddles for an immediate jump.

I know most of those cars would still beat the C7 regardless, but I'm thinking it could have closed the gap against the 430 or the GTR for example.

I've raced my friend's Gallardo LP-560 while using paddles and yes I did lose but not by a margin like in that video.

The C7 Z06 will be a beast..... But the Aventador I was screwing around with was so damn fast. From a dead stop. It is unreal...... The thing has 700 HP and all wheel drive, not to mention a DCT that shifts so fast your head will spin. If you think the C7 is a fast car. You haven't seen a Aventador or P1, or 918 in action..... Whole different league.

As said before, the C7 is good for the price. But up against an exotic, there is no contest. Sin city hit the nail on the head. A nice sports car you can drive everyday, and not have to worry about.

FlyingBear, I just read that entire thread on FerrariChat....wow, I thought the members on CF.com were tough.......

Interesting read and even more interesting, the attitude on FerrariChat. They have every right to have that attitude, I guess-they own a Ferrari 458. It's sad that most can acknowledge the accomplishments and improvements of the C7. It seems most don't like the "Ferrari-like" lines of the new Stingray-nor will acknowledge it.

So you're really trading up to a ZO7????

Well, to be fair, they were joking about banning me. The posts on the thread were quite evenly spread between those who don't, and those who do, appreciate the C7. Remember: if you've spent $300-400,000 on a car (because that's what most 458s end up stickering for, with the insane cost of options), you don't really want to believe that a car costing less than a quarter as much is anywhere close to being as good. There was some good love for the C7 there, too.

I park my 458 and C7 next to each other in one of my garages. The 458 is, to my eyes, undeniably sleeker and prettier, but the C7 is more striking in many ways. Each to their own.

And, yeah, I can't resist a Z06/Z07.

One last thing: I don't think that owning a 458 gives anyone the right to have an attitude. I believe that all enthusiasts deserve respect. For example, for many (not all), a C7 is a bigger commitment and financial sacrifice, and brings as much joy to the owners, as a 458 does for many (not all) 458 owners. It's the passion and commitment that I respect, not the bank balance. Most of the people on FerrariChat are pleasant and help each other out, just like here, and, for some of them, the 458 was the achievement of a lifelong goal. Mean people suck, but good people more than make up for that.

Just felt the need to point out that you're one of the good ones. . .appreciate your posts, and your posts on the ferarri forum. So many people on both love to wave their Ds around. . .but others are just good down to earth car nuts who just appreciate all cars. . .thanks.

C7Z06 has 650 ft/lbs of torque. Aventador has 510.

Aventador will be quicker 0-60 due to AWD. But from the 1/4 mile on it will be a much closer race. Definitely not a difference in acceleration that anybody would label a "whole different league". FWIW.. the OLD C6Z06 was already faster around several tracks than a Aventador. It will be a "whole different league" of difference in lap times when the NEW C7Z06 arrives.
