What chemical do you use to clean the two tail pipe tips that actually get dirty?

Melting Slicks
I might add, once you get it clean and shiny, a quick wipe with a THICK folded over cloth [the pipes get hot!] after each drive will keep it looking that way.

That works great, yep. Although I only use it when doing a genuine wash.
For touchups between washes, I use a little bug & tar remover to remove the more stubborn carbon deposits, followed up by glass cleaner. Easy and fast to do

use Oven Cleaner (plastic bottle that looks like wax) nothing removes carbon like it
then use the mothers power ball to shine them up

Go to CF Vendor "Top Flight Reproductions" and look at its kit for @ $30. It has everything you'll need.
For me I use my drill, a Mother's ball, Simichrome, and any other great metal polisher. I even use NevrDull to get rid of those little black dots that seem to accumulate. Just traded my '09 Z for a '14 C7 and the Z's tips looked brand new.

Polish first......then easy to clean....
Harbor Freight make a metal polishing kit (cotton buffs & various cuts of rouge). Cheap!
Chuck up a cotton buff in the drill and polish to a mirror finish. Once the surface is polished smooth, cleaning is a breeze. I wipe mine out with acetone between detailing. Acetone is a great stainless cleaner.

I'll tell you like I told 'em all.
WIZARDS PRODUCTS are used exclusively on all my vehicles - from top-to-bottom, and under the hood.
Their Metal Polish works very well on my chrome tipped exhaust on my 7.3 PSD.

The outside (which was just road crap, not the carbon glued-on crap like the inside) was polished just by hand.

I simply use a rag drenched in soap when I wash the car and they come out shiny and like new almost every time. I did need to use never dull once after returning from the museum pickup and 1100 miles. No special tools or chemicals needed.

Cerama Bryte
Just tried the cerama bright on a z06 i received this week. Previous owner never touched the tail pipes. They were a mess. This is my first veto btw. I'm in love.
Only did the right side.
All done.
