When I took the Corvette plant tour when the C6 was being produced they said the car sit in BG for bit. The reason for the car to sit at the plant is incase there is a production issue. This allows GM to address the car that may have a problem.
.............I am really surprised that GM builds them and then lets them sit for so long in BG rather than invoicing them and shipping them ASAP...................Scot
GM invoices dealers electronically within a day of the cars coming off the assembly line. Has nothing to do with time of shipment.
The wait sucks, but you will forget all about it once the car arrives. I am in Phoenix and my car left BG 06/12, arrived in Phoenix on 07/01, then arrived at dealer 07/03. Hang in there, it's coming
From reading the OP's posts apparently GM is only shipping his car from Bowling Green to his selling dealer in Columbus Ohio. Then the car will be trucked privately from Ohio to California. The only thing that doesn't make sense is any "delay". The car was built last Wednesday 10/29; on Tuesday 11/4 the OP posted about it being delayed. Nothing appears abnormal here, at least not so far. And as OP mentions, the stripes are added after assembly which could add time.
Be patient. You'll have it before you know it.After you get in it and push the button you'll
Be fine.
Absolutely true!! This car was so worth the wait ... even with rail shipping to NH and having to wait another 3 weeks to go get it due to work commitments!
Just got word, mine is on the auto carrier to the Toledo rail yard. Born on 10-24 with dual stripes.
Wish I had the opportunity to get it on a private carrier. Would hav done that in a NY sec.
It was explained to me that they hold the car in BG for ten days to two weeks in the event of any recalls. They would much rather fix something prior to leaving BG rather then the dealership.

I can't seem to get it shipped so that will probably mean a 2nd week of December delivery to San Diego as it has to go to Ohio before it is shipped by covered wagon (truck) to California.

Does anyone know how long they typically reside at GM before being shipped? I know that it is only a one day trip from the factory to Columbus but it seems to take forever to get them to ship it.
Could this be caused by ordering of the full length stripes as I understand that the factory does not install those but an outside vendor does that.

Scot, I know my 2014 sat for almost 2 weeks. I kept asking the dealer and the factory what was going on. They said it was normal for a carrier to take that long to arrange. On the bright side the wait is most definitely worth it. Enjoy my friend.
Don't really know about now, but mine was built complete Oct 8 2013 and in my hands in Nor Cal Oct 19 2013. Wifes vert was built complete Mar 28 2014 and in her hands Apr 14 2014! Mine trucked out and hers by rail !

It's not all rainbows and unicorns getting it shipped quickly. Mine was born on 10/13 which was a Monday and it was at the dealer that Friday. Got out of their so quick that they forgot to bolt the spoiler down among some other easily identifiable issues.

What was explained to you is total B.S. There is no standard "hold time". Some cars sit for a week or longer while others leave a day or two after coming off the line. There isn't a consistent logic to it.
You are correct about the second week of December, it took about close to 6 week to get my order after it was built. Built on 09-15-14, delivered to the dealer on 10-27-14.

Cars that have museum delivery have a two week hold at the factory in case of problems. They feel that those being shipped take two weeks to get to dealer so issues can be taken care of by dealers. My 2014 came off the line on January 6th 2015 and was in dealers in Cleveland Ohio on the 15th.
My car arrived in Columbus on Friday of last week. (November 7th) It will now be prepped and then loaded on an enclosed truck to San Diego. I suspect that it will take a week or two to get it loaded and then about 5 to 6 days to truck it to San Diego. The trucker will deliver it straight to my house as it will be prepped and ready to go.

Take it you got it from Rick. Great guy. Get it out of Ohio before the snow.
Good to hear that even with stripe installation it arrived at the dealer little more than a week after it was built
So no need for disappointment. In fact it's likely that your private shipper will have it at your house sooner than you predict. You just might have a beautiful new Stingray for Thanksgiving
