I havn't received navigation update notice from GM as yet. Garmin units are being up scaled by car manufacturers. Free updates provide incentives to enhance Garmin product sales.
My audi was quoted around $400 for a Navi update... On ebay the audi upgrade dvd cost around $200... It is rather cheap for chevy in comparison But I will update navi every 3~4 years and use my iphone as an insurance for the route if I go somewhere unfamiliar before.
So, if I understand this correctly, the update will NOT be a dealer installed update, you get it on a flash/jump drive and do it yourself? Your VIN will be required to prevent copies going to other C7 system?
Is it wrong that I don't feel it should cost $160 for this? Just got this letter in the mail today:
I don't think your wrong. I think as the flagship vehicle for Chevrolet they could easily throw it in. I'm a business person and this is my sixth Vette so I guess I'll pay too.

Correct, unless you'd rather have them perform it.
I agree with the OP that these updates should be provided without making you teach for your wallet, especially after emptying it to buy the car to begin with.
Seems reasonable, but I won't be doing it. I used the in-car nave ONCE this year because my GF got in and decided to use it from the passenger seat. Most places I go such as client appointments are on my schedule in Google Calendar which links the address to Google Maps automatically if I press the address on the phone.
BTW, if U have Onstar's Directions and Connections all U have to do is send the Directions from your Android or Iphone or Windows app .. and the actual direction will go to the NAV via BING Maps. Up to date already
Eh, price one pays for buying the thing in the first place w. all the alternatives available. Just found out another mfr. says after first of year, 169, but before end of year, 90. Sounds like a deal and a lot will take advantage of that number. Or phone, or tomtom, garmin, Magellan.
Well, I think it's outrageous. Just bought a new Garmin with lifetime map updates (4 per year) for $140. For the price of that system they should give you a multiple lifetime updates.
