I updated as I go cross country on some new roads around here. If they have them, fine if not I'll wait 2 years and give it another whirl.

BTW, it takes 50 minutes to do the update. You can start it and do a continue if you shut down during the process. Weather and Nav Map access are not available during the update process.

The price is in line with others- I just received notice that our BMW update is available for $150. I won't be updating though- not due to price but most don't need to be updated each year. I usually only update every couple to three years and haven't been let down.

Yes it is more expensive than a Garmin updates but I really don't care-I don't have a Garmin.

Be happy it is not for a Porsche. My updates are about $400.00 and have to pay dealer to install the update.

Dodge charged me $125 back in 2012, The dealership I got my vet from said they updated it when it was received. I hope so.

Not sure which is more criminal, the amount they charge for the nav or the fact that they charge you at all for updates?

I think the cost is absurd. I'm thinking of buying a supplemental nav system because the traffic coverage through XM is so pitifully poor. I can get a good size, real-time display with lifetime updates and traffic for about the same as one update. They have a captive market and are going to beat up on us because they can. I'm disappointed in the C7's entertainment and nav. Car itself is fantastic, otherwise.

Disappointed!? What on earth were you expecting? Everything is integrated and performs excellent. The only thing I would like to see changed is the weather radar presentation. It isn't detailed enough and you can't increase the size of the echo. Well it isn't airborne weather radar and don't have to navigate around the storms, it is OK.

I you subscribe to ONSTAR turn by turn directions service and ask the operator to input directions to your navigation system perhaps you can get the benefit of the latest map info without buying the update. Has anyone tried this?

I can't believe they charge 1800 bucks for the damn navigation is all I will say! I don't need a damn camera recorder... just the nav would have been suffice for me. not for 2 grand though! I'll use my phone.

the onstar navigation I have on my volt is actually pretty cool too so I'm fine I guess

Porsche sucks. The basic body design has not changed since 1962 and they charge a fortune for ant little thing you might want to add. Way worse then GM...

Do you think that a company can research the map areas and create an update by merely pressing a button? It takes many people and many hours to create an updated map. Those companies are in business to make money and are contractors to GM. To my knowledge GM does not doe its own mapping and updates.

No, but GM can contract with Garmin or TomTom, etc. to get a better price/packaged deal for us Vette owners who pays $60K +

If Garmin can sell $80 GPS units with lifetime updates, GM can negociate a better deal to make us Vette buyers happy, ie: Satisfied Customer = repeat sales...

Just curious. What is the current version of your Navigation software? Here's what mine shows:

Software: 23493441
Grace Note: 23432184
Map: 23431286

(To check: NAV -> SETTINGS -> SOFTWARE INFORMATION.)

The BMW update can be bought from third party on DVD for $45. BMW seems to be tolerating it, as they haven't gone after the third party company. I keep a Garmin in both cars JUST in case.
