You make some valid points. I've just never seen a handgun outside of a gun range or on a cop.
I wonder what the ratio of someone successfully defending themselves with a gun vs accidental shootings with their own gun is. But that's a discussion for another thread. Sorry for the hijack.
Its sad but there isnt anyplace that keeps statistics on that. Not many folks call into report "hey I just had to pull my gun and saved myself"
I have a nice composite 38 special in my bed stand, not confident enuf to carry it in the car, somehow I'll screw it up and get it turned on me! I do carry FOX 5.3 military spec spray behind the screen though...( yes ok with the heat per fox, I checked)
All C7's have it. Since CCW is virtually impossible to obtain in my state I carry this along with a Swiss army rescue knife and a small bag of quarters in case I ever need to pay a parking meter.

When I am forced to travel DC and north I bring my 12ga flare gun from the boat. It's just a safety device, but it will buy you plenty of time to escape!
I bet you pay them right in the head of the meter too
I'm not following your odd sense of humor but whatever. What is so difficult to understand about having a small bag of change in your car to pay parking meters? I don't want coins rolling around in there and possibly getting stuck in the screen mechanism.

makes sense to me, I have same in my side door pocket.
yeah, what is this gun thing about? Bunch of idiots!
Yeah....bunch of idiots.... I seriously hope you were being sarcastic! Here's a lil story for ya....
My girlfriend and I were on a little road trip heading down to Savanah, GA. It was about 11:30pm when my gas light came on. We were just outside of Agusta, GA and had a little over 2 hours left on the trip so I pulled off the first exit to hit a little gas station. The gas station was closed but the pumps were on so I got out and started filling up. As I was standing there, a young African American male (15-18 years old) came walking towards me through the parking lot. I leaned in the truck door and asked my gf to hand me my gun because something just seemed sketchy. I put the gun in my hand inside my pocket and stood there as I continued to pump. He approached me and asked if I had a few bucks he could have. I told him I wasn't carrying any cash. I then saw him look over towards the corner of the building. I glanced that direction to see 2 other males that came from around the corner. It was at this point that I drew the gun from my pocket allowing him to see it and stated "look man, I don't want any trouble". The young man quickly signaled the "no-go/cancel" signal (hand across the throat) to the other men, and slowly started backing away from me. I then reached over and stopped the nozzle and replaced it on the pump, never taking my eye off my surroundings. Got back in the truck, and got the hell out of there...heart racing a 100 mph! In my honest opinion, my GUN probably saved me and my gf from getting robbed, beaten, or worse! So yeah...I guess you could say we are all idiots!

I believe he took your comment sarcastically, like I initially did. It sounded to me like you were implying that you carry a bag of quarters to use as a weapon since you don't have a CCW
The gun community is rife with sarcasm. I had a boating accident, but I used to be involved with them

I agree 100% with this. I was lucky to survive my boating accident.
why are you guys hiding your car? shouldn't it be on your person?
is this for times when you can't enter lawfully armed? (bar, gov bldg etc)
my shield would fit perfect there! nice!
I do wish the button was hidden though. looks horrible. it's awesome on the escalade I think. there is no button. you just touch the metal trim on the bottom right of the screen

I totally agree. For such a well designed interior they couldn't come up with a smaller button, a hidden button, or one that doesn't scream SCREEN.
