I am an avid 2A supporter but I won't preach to you, just understand that some people have been through things that change them. And some people don't have to cut themselves to know it hurts. Crime happens everywhere, anybody who says "my neighborhood is safe" or "I stay out of sketchy places" is really fooling themselves. Look up Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom for a good example of what kind of world we live in today.

Flip flops don't change anything, and I wear shorts with a belt and carry the same thing I carry in the winter.

It's unfortunate that the passion of gun owners makes them look fanatical to people who weren't brought up around them and just don't get it. For many a gun is a tool, like a fire extinguisher. You hope you never need it, but if you ever do you'll be way better off that you had one.

There's a good chance you'll never need it. My CCW has only been fired at the range, and only for long enough for me to learn how to use it. Its not a fun weapon to fire, or to practice with, its for close range defense of life only.

If you ever need it and don't have it, then it won't matter anymore. In fact nothing will. You'll just be gone.

That's why I use online and the ATM.
Don't remember the last time I had to walk into the bank

Very few places I go are posted "no weapons" (dropped my Costco membership and joined Sams for that reason)..I don't have to leave it in the car.

Don't wear shorts/flip flops, so no worries there.

I carry SoB, so for short trips, it stays there.
Longer trips, passenger seat.
Winter, passenger seat or coat pocket.

Watch out for those drive-up ATMs. They can be dangerous too.

And 10mm, I couldn't have said it better myself. Very well put.

Technically, if the door will close with the weapon inside, the weapon fits. As to whether it is loaded or not is another discussion point.

My Kimber UltraCarry II won't fit even if I used a big hammer to mash it in. My Glock 27 will fit in the same manner as shown but then I'd have 2 guns in the car and that's not necessary.

I usually just carry my hand grenades in the compartment. The trick is you need to carry 2 or possibly 3 depending of course on your grenade preference. A single grenade will just roll around and drive you crazy. WWII era frag grenades typically stay pretty steady but those are a little more difficult to find these days.

I definitely see your point especially the fire extinguisher example. But like I said, I've never seen a gun off the range, other than on a cop (I did a short course once and enjoyed it).

So to carry the same logic, shouldn't we all have bomb shelters like in the '50's?

Again, not trying to be a smart *** even though it may sound like it.

People prepare for what they realistically expect, and what they can put forth the resources for. Would you turn away a free bomb shelter? Of course not, but you don't see the need to pay for one. You may not see the need to carry a gun, because in all likelihood you will never need it. The cool part is when we can respect each others choices and freedoms, and let people prepare for what they want. If you notice very few pro-gun people will tell you what you need to do, instead they will stand up for what they want to do.

The fact that you have never seen a gun off of a range other than on a cop speaks volumes about the cultural differences, some places guns are ubiquitous and others they are esoteric.

"I wonder what the ratio of someone successfully defending themselves with a gun vs accidental shootings with their own gun is..."

According to the evenings TV news:
Defending: 0
Accidental shootings: 100% everytime it happens...

Just a recent example from the town I live in. Lady was able to drive away two armed individuals that broke into her home. This is a pretty random house out in the suburbs, about 40 miles from the city of Atlanta.

There are countless more stories like that. Accidental firearm deaths make up about 0.5% of the total in the US. For reference 50 times more people die in motor vehicle accidents than from firearms. Over 46 times more people die from falling.

Anybody who tells you you're better off without one is misinformed or untrustworthy.

Oh plus there's that whole Constitutional right thing too

That's the problem with the evening news. While their news is true their statistics are biased. When was the last time you saw an interview with anyone on the news with a non politically correct agenda?
Some idiot gets his parents gun and does the unthinkable. The media will air it in a fashion that, to those undecided about second amendment rights will shift to anti gun. Soon it gets to be politically incorrect to bear arms. Just maybe if a qualified and armed citizen were present there would have been a different outcome. You never heard the media mention anything urging an escalation in mental health. Personally I'd rather be tried by ten than carried by six.

Yup, a couple of years ago an 80 year old local man and his wife were accosted in of all places a graveyard by some armed idiot trying to rob them of their money (they were visiting a dead relative at the time). The 80 year old was able to get his own gun out of the holster and fired before the would be robber could react. Blew the kid's brains out.

Old man = 1
Wanna be thief = 0

True story...

Why must it get political on this forum all the time? We're all here to talk about C7's, not gun control. There are plenty of sites on the internet to discuss these things. This is not one of them.
