I know that Mike is a fountain of knowledge, however in this thread here it also states production begins on June 22nd, and do you really think that it'll take two months after that for those cars to start hitting the dealers? Early July sounds more likely if cars are coming off the line on June 22nd.

I believe that Mike is being conservative so that his customers are usually happy when it arrives a bit early. I think this is a good approach.

Wonder if GM moved the initial 2016 production date up? My Dealer also thought the 2016s wouldn't be available this early. Wonder what is up, options, something special being introduced, or model intro date just being slipped back to pre 2014 days.

I agree, that is a good policy, especially considering there could be restraints as well, so someone ordering a Z51 might have to wait a few extra weeks for their order to get picked up.

I don't know how long it takes for dealers to get cars built for inventory, but individual orders are 8-10 weeks. So if they start production 6/23 delivery mid-August to early September.

and this is what Mike told me when I placed my order. I'm hoping for a pre-Labor Day delivery.

8-10 weeks from order to delivery yes, but not 8-10 weeks from when it's built until delivery. Big difference there. What I'm saying is that if production actually starts on June 22nd, the cars aren't going to sit at the factory for two solid months before they start showing up on dealer's lots, they will be there way sooner than that.

I believe the thread is about people getting delivery of a personally ordered car for themselves. One can only speculate how long it takes for a dealer to get stock cars once initial production starts on 6/22. I would also guess sooner than 8 weeks. Only a dealer would know for sure.

Every vehicle GM produces is ordered so shipping is not related to whether the order is retail ordered or stock ordered. To my knowledge there is only one example of a fulfillment absent a retail or dealer order going back to 1969 and that is considered to be an anomaly.

If June 22 starts regular production than after the normal two week QC deliveries should start in the middle of August, which some consider to be late summer but someone somewhere may consider to be early fall.

And to be clear, dealer stock or retail consumer orders are treated alike for transportation purposes.

Assuming my order goes in as soon as possible, perhaps I might see my car in August. This would be fantastic.

Obviously, a lot will depend on how many allocations your dealer gets for the first consensus cycle, where you are in the list of your dealers orders, and any constraints published for that consensus cycle.

I'm still confused as to the math everyone is using on here though. If production starts June 22nd, and then there is a two week QC wait, how does that make sense that cars will be delivered in mid August? That's not a two week wait that's six weeks. Is everyone just skipping over the entire month of July on here?? My head is spinning It doesn't take one full month for cars to be transported from the factory to a dealership.

Have you listened to the rail transport stories from some of the guys on this board. Many have taken over a month. Not to mention, when the car is released for shipping, Jackie Cooper has 10 days to have it on a truck off the lot. If they take the whole time to get a full load going to your dealer, and then take it to a railhead, mid-August could be optimistic.

While a few orders may have taken that long, I have a hard time believing that not a single car would make it into someone's hands much sooner than mid August. I stand by my belief that if production starts on June 22nd, there will be a good number of people that will receive their 2016 cars sometime in July. Obviously restraints will play a big part here, but the tone of this thread seems to be that not a single person will get their 2016s until mid August and I doubt that would happen.

So I agree, it's good for a dealer to be telling their customers to expect it in mid August just to play safe, but I'm still betting that there will be a high number of lucky people who will be driving their 2016s much sooner than that. Time will tell, and I'll be sure to revisit this thread in July and say I told you so!

The best way to do that is for you to order one and send pics when you take your July delivery.

Even if I were lucky enough to be ordering a 2016, mine wouldn't be a good example since I live in Canada and there would surely be an extra delay in transportation time up here.

I do believe the dealers closest to Bowling Green would be most likely to be the ones getting their cars first once production starts.

Perhaps someone who took delivery at the very beginning of 2015 production could help us out here and let us know when their car was built and when they took delivery.
