Been with State Farm a long time. My 2015 Vette went up about $60.00 a year from what I was paying on my 2008 Vette. My 2015 is a convertible the 08 was not, do not know if that has any impact.
My experience is similar. I've been with SF for over 30 years and my premium went from $80 to $120 per month going from a 2006 to 2015, both coupes. It doesn't seem out of line. Not only is the C7 9 years newer, but was significantly more expensive to buy.
From: Detroit area and Nashville area What day is it? Between MI & TN
Progressive jumped the rate on my C7 from the 1st 6 months to second - like more than double with no change in anything else. I went online and did a 'new quote' like a new customer. Guess who got their original rate back.
Shameful, just shameful.
I hate having to change companies but it seems like every couple of years I make the cycle between Progressive, State Farm, Farmers and Haggerty.
I wonder if this is a State thing. I was with State Farm for 40 years but left when GEICO gave me a much lower price for better coverage ($618 a year on my C7). My premiums haven't changed in the year and a half I've had the car.
I've also heard there is a big difference in Z51 vs stock C7 coverage.
Been with American National for years now and my annual cost went up $156 going from 2011, C6 4LT, base, vert to 2015, Z06, vert. USAA wanted $876 more for same coverage thought being a VET would cut me a deal.....no such thing, staying where I am.
I have looked around, and can't find anyone else (top tier aka USAA, progressive, all state etc) that is lower than GEICO. service wise I have had good luck with them, so I don't see the reason to go anywhere else
I would never call Progressive top tier, would the other two. I got rear ended by a Progressive policy holder on an interstate a few years ago and the USAA claims adjuster told me to beware of them.
Add to that the recently replaced Progressive CEO was notorious for spending large sums on far left liberal causes. Not for me. Don
LOL a lot of you are complaining but damn would love to switch policies with you guys. I"m pay 1130/6months for just the vette! 32 years old, 0 point. From Michigan, one of the worst states for insurance rates!
Insurance pricing is different depending on where you live and can vastly differ by company.
Depending on the area, some companies won't even write policies. Other companies could be 50-75% higher than others. You can't really compare insurance companies unless you live in the same area, have similar driving history, and are of similar age.
I buy insurance based on price. I change almost every year as the "New Customer" and "Early Customer" discounts can be huge. You would also think years of loyalty would count. Oh, they count. If you have the same insurance for 40 years and never had a claim, the bean counters will figure you're due and your rates will go up.
If you stay with a single company, most times your rates will gradually inch up until you're paying WAY more than you should.
My brother has been with the same company for 15 years. When we compared policies (we live a mile from each other) he was paying more than double what I was paying. He switched and saved 50%.
It really does pay to shop and while it can be a PITA to switch every year, it's often what keeps you with the best rates.
I've had Geico for 43 years. After 43 years you think some consideration. Any Good companies out there treating us fairly. Thanks for reading my rant!!
I just cant believe Geico has been around for 43 years...
I have State Farm and I always been treated fairly.
I've had Geico for 43 years. Paid good premium for severals with new Chrysler 300, 2002 Chevy truck and once with 2008 corvette then new 2011, then new 2014 and most policy was about $1250 for YEAR! Now after being quoted same general price on new 2015, once car came policy jumped to almost $1900 a year same three cars. Geico says corvette reevaluated. I have spent hours arguing! After 43 years you think some consideration. Any Good companies out there treating us fairly. Thanks for reading my rant!!
I switched from Geico to State Farm after mine went from 776 every six months to 1226.
Don't you guys own homes? Oh, I guess it's just Florida. All everyone talks about in these insurance threads (and in the TV/radio ads) is auto insurance. But to get the best discount (and if you want an umbrella policy) you need to bundle your insurance with one carrier (or so I've come to understand). Unfortunately, in Florida it's not so easy because everyone wants your auto insurance business, but nobody wants to sell you homeowners insurance any more, even in Central Florida, away from the coasts (after three hurricanes in 2004). I got a great money saving quote from USAA on my auto insurance, but they won't touch my home, putting me off to some unknown company.
A related question for the people who go to Adam Boca for their Vette insurance (low miles), do they still have coverage from another company for other cars, home, umbrella, and does that company not require that all of their vehicles be bundled on that one policy?
Anyone in Florida with a home have any of these great insurance stories to tell? Thanks!
Call AARP. The Hartford is the carrier. They cut my ins cost in half for the same cars and home. My 2014 cost 750,00 a year. But my truck is my main driver.

Yes, but he was referring to auto insurance. I had my auto and home with Geico...then switch my auto and home to State Farm. The issue the OP brought up is that his auto insurance rose, not his home insurance. That would be for another forum or in Off Topic....
