I have looked around, and can't find anyone else (top tier aka USAA, progressive, all state etc) that is lower than GEICO. service wise I have had good luck with them, so I don't see the reason to go anywhere else
You are definitely in the minority. I easily found several policies that beat my Geico policy.
I've had Geico for 43 years. Paid good premium for severals with new Chrysler 300, 2002 Chevy truck and once with 2008 corvette then new 2011, then new 2014 and most policy was about $1250 for YEAR! Now after being quoted same general price on new 2015, once car came policy jumped to almost $1900 a year same three cars. Geico says corvette reevaluated. I have spent hours arguing! After 43 years you think some consideration. Any Good companies out there treating us fairly. Thanks for reading my rant!!
Your telling me! We've been customers for 25yrs and no major claims and our premium went up $ 3,000.00 here in NY. Just got a policy with. Leeland West and its $900?Go figure.
I had Farmers insurance on everything...home, car, pickup, motorcycles etc for 12 years. When I bought the vette, it really raised my premium. I checked around with 5 other notable companies, and Farmers was the highest of all, despite being a loyal customer all of that time. Nationwide was the cheapest, but I wanted a company with a local agent, so I went with State Farm. They've been ok.
I am retired USAF and had GEICO all the time I was on active duty and then continued for another 20 years - one day (about 2010) I realized I was not really getting such a great deal, looked at USAA and they were worse then GEICO. Looked at a few more and went with State Farm - BIG, BIG savings - and I am still with them. So if you are military or retired military - shop around, GEICO certainly was not a bargain - seemed like they were making great 'claims' for military but they were false claims!
I was a Allstate guy for years, then they dropped our home insurance in Florida after the bad run of hurricanes we had (I never filed a claim with them over a 35 year period). I dropped my car insurance with them when they abandoned me with our home. I moved on and found better deals available all over the place.
Once I realized I wasn't married to one company, I started looking around when I got my C7 for a good company
I shopped around and found USAA to be higher than others too. Finally settled with The Hartford through AARP (one of the few benefits of getting old). Actually got my premium down to a point where I carry $100 ded on collision and zero on Comp. Since ours is not a daily driver, I'm carrying 6K miles a year of driving w/ mine. Hartford also beat others when I added the Umbrella too.
Shop around. Being loyal to one insurance company only hurts you. They will have no compunction in dropping you if it's in their best business interest.
I would never call Progressive top tier, would the other two. I got rear ended by a Progressive policy holder on an interstate a few years ago and the USAA claims adjuster told me to beware of them.
Add to that the recently replaced Progressive CEO was notorious for spending large sums on far left liberal causes. Not for me. Don
Do you mean the late owner, Peter B Lewis. He certainly was reported to be a pot smoking lib who was unwelcomed in Australia I believe. Had a great art collection.
Who's the replaced CEO to which you refer? Not familiar with him/her.
I am saving around $900/ year on 3 cars after switching from the lizard to State Farm. I tried Liberty Mutual for a year. I had a rate similar to SF but they jacked the rate in year #2 and said they would do the same in year #3, so I moved on. The jury is still out on SF, but I have my other insurance with them, so we'll see.
Several years ago I was with AARP (Hartford Ins Co), but one year I received a $500 annual increase for no particular reason. When I called to inquire no one could seem to explain the increase (no violations on my license at all).
Thankfully this was just about the time USAA opened up their auto insurance program to all past military members (you no longer need to be active duty or retired), so I switched to USAA and haven't looked back. $650/yr for my '15 Z51.
We just switched from SF to a very large local insurance agency, Westfield Insurance Companies.
We had been with SF for over 15 years but they fouled up on failing to notify us that our rates could have been affected since 2011 by certain items in a credit report that said we had opened many revolving accounts in the last 24 months. I knew that was false.
That report was generated by a reporting company called LexisNexis and because of that we were entitled to see the report so I also asked TransUnion for a free copy of my credit report. There was nothing in either that spoke to opening many revolving accounts.
So we looked for new coverage and said goodbye to SF. I imagine they lost some business on this as many policy holders received the same letter.
Everyone should be aware that personal credit ratings help determine your cost of insurance because of what's called universal default.
The other area that gripes me is that because we live in a decent suburb but still have an inner city zip code, our auto insurance can be as much as 25% higher according to our new agent.
This gives one pause to lobby for our own zip code.

hi ... sorry to hear it as I have GEICO and have been told $200 yr extra adding C7 over the two cars price I have now with '05 C6. Thought it was ok til I saw some members posts on hardly any jump. But, I do put 1K month on car which I still think is minor but not like the 1000- 2000 miles a YEAR that many members do. Maybe it's why no price jump ...
I agree with some members who say prices rise regardless of company. So, I've been with GEICO for a while BUT every time at renewal, I check other comapnies. When the C7 deleivery date is confirmed as late this month, I'll get info to GEICO again,. If it changes, I already had a quote from USAA that was a couple of dollars less ( NOT enough to switch) but I'll get 3 bids to see who wants my business for the next year.
I insured mine as a DD so there won't be any problems if and when something goes wrong while driving when and where I want, come winter I'll let them know she's in bed for a few months, my increase was still was under $200.00 for the year going from a base 2011, C6 4LT to the 2015, Z06.
I have AAA. Automobile Club of Southern Calif. At one time I had two C4's and one C5, plus my daily driver. I called them to get a quote on my C7 to see if there was any significant change. Agent asked me about options. Did it have the Z five one !!!. I told him it was called the Z51 Per formance pkg.
At any rate there was no significant increase on premium. I have 4 cars,( two are Vettes) and one pick up truck. Every year a portion of their profits is reflected in a discount on premiums
Just received my 6 month GEICO Renewal for all 3 of my Cars and there was very little change in the premium. It might have been $10 or $20 overall for all 3 cars.
FWIW, I have 2014 Corvette A6 with the Z51 Package.
retired , all state has ours at 745.00 a year went from a 2011 BMW 335d and dropped 40 a year to a 2014 mustang GT prem, the went up 6 bucks a year from the mustang to the c7, have shopped allstate many times and never found anyone that could beat them on our combined policies

I had a similar problem with them when my '15 came in. They were going to charge me almost twice what I was paying for my "09 and '11 Lacrosse. I had them run a credit check and they lowered the cost a bunch. I am now paying lower premiums than before.
I have had GEICO for years, live in the farmland of Omaha and am now able to apply for Social Security (which Im not). I don't have any tickets, ok credit scores and am very happy with my annual insurance on my 2015 and 2015 cars. Not much difference in my C7 Stingray or C7 Z06. There must be a reason that some are saying theirs was raised
