I've had Geico for 43 years. Paid good premium for severals with new Chrysler 300, 2002 Chevy truck and once with 2008 corvette then new 2011, then new 2014 and most policy was about $1250 for YEAR! Now after being quoted same general price on new 2015, once car came policy jumped to almost $1900 a year same three cars. Geico says corvette reevaluated. I have spent hours arguing! After 43 years you think some consideration. Any Good companies out there treating us fairly. Thanks for reading my rant!!
Hmmm, no change in my State Farm coverage when I bought mine in 2014, and no increase on my recent semi-annual bill. Been with State Farm since 1965, maybe that makes a difference?
I have looked around, and can't find anyone else (top tier aka USAA, progressive, all state etc) that is lower than GEICO. service wise I have had good luck with them, so I don't see the reason to go anywhere else
Been with State Farm a long time. My 2015 Vette went up about $60.00 a year from what I was paying on my 2008 Vette. My 2015 is a convertible the 08 was not, do not know if that has any impact.
This is common across all carriers. Why do you think that all insurance companies post the same ads stating that switching to them can save you $400/year? Most customers will pay the increases. Once you switch, you will usually pay a lower rate, and after several years, they'll increase the rates to a higher amount than what another switch would be. My insurance agent tried to justify this (poorly), but basically backed up what I stated above.
BTW - Farmer's did the same exact thing to me (after 12 years) and I ended switching to Geico which saved close to $600/year off of Farmer's increase.
I have State Farm & live in Collier Co. Florida - (Naples). I pay less for my new 15' Corvette Z51 Coupe than I do for my 2010 EB Flex. This is partly due to the 7,500 max miles on Vette & G8's, and 12,000+ on Flex. Compared to my 2 G8 GT's, it is less than $100. per year more.
G8 GT's are slightly less than $800 per year, Vette is just under $900, and Flex is nearly $1,000. All policies are $500,000.00 Liability, $500.00 deductible on accidents, $200. DED on Comp. and cover uninsured motorists. I am accident free, ticket free, and get all the discounts for multiple policies etc. I am also a senior citizen.
What has gone up for me is my high limit SF Personal Umbrella. It has doubled in the last 10 years.
I have Allstate and have a C7 on order. I guess I need to get a quote from them soon on a Corvette. I have been with Allstate since 1965 not that it matters to them. Any ideas on alternatives. I called the NCM and was not too impressed with their quote-problem was too little coverage for the price.
The same exact thing happened to me with Safeco. Corvette "reevaluated" and jumped around 300 / year. Haven't started shopping yet but I plan to. I disliked Safeco anyway.
I have been with Geico for about 15 years. I am paying just under $800 a year on a 2002 Avalanche, which is worth about 5K by KBB. I thought this was high, as my girlfriend is paying the same amount from Erie on a brand new VW Passat she just spent $24,000 for.
I called Geico to add my new car and was quoted $1700 a year for both.
So I called Erie and was quoted $1100 a year for both my Avalanche AND my new Z51 Corvette, which I should be picking up in about two weeks.
All insurance companies tend to hike their prices quite often. That's why I shop around each year to see if I am getting the best deal.
Yup, longevity means nothing. Wifey & I (combined) have 70+ yrs w/ State Farm with excellent payment/claims record. At renewal time that all meant zilch and the rates went alpha-sierra. So after all those years of brand loyalty, we went shopping again and changed carriers. Now, the premiums are back where they should be w/ the new company...we'll see what the next few years bring.

I got rid of the ridiculous lizard years ago after they tried to jack me 5k when my youngest son moved from an urban area to a rural area
anyway, signed on to Encompass, which I later found out was almost as bad...Met Life cut those rates more than 59% (car/homeowners/scheduled property)
If you have another car and don't use your Corvette as a daily driver, Call Adam at NCM Insurance for a quote. 2014 Z51 convertible $500.00 per year with 500k liability limits. Safeco wanted $1300.00. Just google National Corvette Museum Insurance for the number.
Another vote for NCM insurance. My C7 is not my daily driver, but they allow 3,000 miles per year. That is plenty for driving a Corvette in New Jersey. I was surprised at the rates and customer service provided. My buddy insured his Porche 911 with them and saved a bundle. Call Adam, it could be worth your time.
I am retired USAF and had GEICO all the time I was on active duty and then continued for another 20 years - one day (about 2010) I realized I was not really getting such a great deal, looked at USAA and they were worse then GEICO. Looked at a few more and went with State Farm - BIG, BIG savings - and I am still with them. So if you are military or retired military - shop around, GEICO certainly was not a bargain - seemed like they were making great 'claims' for military but they were false claims!
