Will be bringing my 2014 in for the siphon repair next monday and was hoping to get the software updated to the latest revision as i heard there was a change for the M7 concening seat position.
Will the dealer be able to just upload the latest and greatest software or will i need to specify to him my concerns.
I am curioius to others experiances in this regard since dealers can sometimes vary in what they can or cant do
The M7 seat memory software update adds a choice of ON- Driver Door Open and ON- At Ignition On. The At Ignition On choice moves the seat when you push the start button. If you have the clutch pressed, the car starts. If you can't reach the clutch, push the start button once to move the seat and again to start the car. See linked thread for the document you need to print and hand to the service department. I've had the update for a year and like it.

One of many seat memory threads beginning early 2014:

Cool, wiil print and bring. But to that point , will the dealer only update what i tell him.
for instance , if there was a software update for the carb postion sensor that i didnt know about , do dealers update that realizing i am running old software. Or do i have to direct them on every single update that may have been created since the car was built.
You can ask them to check for any software updates and to install them. But - if you have a specific problem or know of an update you want you should tell them. I don't think all service departments manage to keep up with all of the GM bulletins and emails. Depending on your build date there may be other updates. I think most were rolled into production by my April 14, 2014 build.
