Here in Western PA we have many, many deer. Too many. Over the years my wife and I have hit 4,all within a mile or so from our home.
It is a most unnerving experience. In PA there are over 50,000 killed on the roads annually.
Fortunately,I have not cracked one with my Vette. Deer pop up everywhere around here.
I am considering starting to hunt again. If I mentioned how many deer were in my property at one time, you would not believe me. There are too many whitetails!

I hear you Norm. I live just south of PA in Hagerstown and often travel to Somerset to visit my 87 year old Mom. Can't tell you how many times I have almost hit a deer. So far I have been able to avoid them but I do try to avoid driving in the early evening as they really seem to be active around this time. My son lives near Valley Forge National Park and they recently hired some sharpshooters to "thin" out the deer in the park as they were eating everything and also coming into his town of Phoenixville and destroying gardens. I think they killed several hundred deer and it is not a very big park. The Whitetail Deer has adapted very well to an urban environment. Some states are using birth control to try and slow down their breeding but I don't think it is very successful. Curious if your insurance rates have been affected by your unfortunate relationships with deer?
Sorry about your accident, at least collisions with animals are usually not at fault accidents. Why is your car red on the outside with yellow door jambs?
Kind of unsettling that the airbag didn't work - what if this had been an accident where you actually needed them?
I wondered if the OP bought the car used? It's odd that the door jambs appear to be a different color than the rest of the car and sometimes an indication the car has been in a previous accident.
Best hope the frame isn't bent, or else they will total the car. I hit a deer in my last car (Acura TL) and it took out the front xenon light array, the front fender, the bumper and some other miscellaneous parts. $5k of damage, and the car was only 6 months old. Body shop said had the frame been tweaked, it's all done - they don't even try to fix it.
Good question about the yellow sills and red body color. What's up with that?
That's an odd way for colors to appear in pictures.
That's what I thought. At first, I thought it was just the color in the picture being off, but the red and yellow in that picture made it look like it'd been painted.
Thanks guys. The car was bought new and is torch red. The door jams do look yellow in the photos, but that's probably because of the way the sun was hitting it and the fact that its a cell phone pic. Here are a few more (same angle, just inside the garage)
Car damage can be remedied, I had a life long friend who was killed about 18 months ago by a buck trying to jump over the hood of her SUV while she was driving on a state highway. Deer was cut in half, and came through the windshield crushing her. So these encounters are very dangerous.
