Yeah right 350 songs/titles to scroll through, sounds so easy why didn't we do that earlier. So much fun. Takes only a few hours, and if you scroll past what you wanted, it could take days. And its so easy when you are driving. Right. Get my point.
Just like the cup tires. Ooops off topic.

Considering the demographic that the Corvette appeals to I am surprised it has no CD player at least as an option. Actually I am a little surprised they don't offer a cassette player as well.

Sooooooooo......... You are listening to CD#1, just rockin with the vibes and you want to hear Flutie and the blowfish (or whatever), 'splain to me how easy it is to do to open the case of CDs, finger flip your way and read the labels to find your new set of tunes and doing all that while driving in bumper to bumper traffic? How is that easier to do than, lets say, try the audio commands to "Play Artist Flutie and the Blowfish" or maybe one of these other commands will fill the bill:

    Hmmmm..

Yes my wife insists she just loves the "convenience of CD's". Of course she always wonders why after a while her CD's quit working and I have to point out that they are scratched up from rolling around under her seat. So she gets the "convenience" of buying the same CD again...not joking there either.

Also she gets the "convenience" of being a few miles down the road when she suddenly decides she wants to listen to a particular album...which she left home...or is under the seat somewhere.

Of course way back when I did spend hours copying all of my (probably) couple of hundred CD's to my computer. But once there, they are there. Copy them to my phone, my mp3 player (for the gym) or my SD card for the vette or my Nissan truck with a couple of mouse clicks. They are permanently in my various verhicals unless I get something new (and anything new is in electronic format to begin with).

Finally, its all backed up. If my house burns down and 100% of the old CD's are destroyed, my music is all safe and sound in my Crashplan backup. Hows that for convenience?

Almost as easy put your DIC in Audio mode and browse and select with your right hand with a few glances down with your eyes ( make too much sense to have this displayed in the HUD).....

I don't think GM has put the high beam switch on the floor since the 60's! Try pushing the turn signal switch forward (towards the engine) to turn them on, and pulling it towards the rear will momentarily turn them on till you release them.

I just did them a few dozen at a time on my laptop over several weekends while watching TV. Once you do it, you're done until you buy new music. The convenience of having all of your music with you without having to lug around the actual CDs easily justifies the time and effort IMO.
I totally agree with you! Back about 2007 I got an iPod so I could have all my music in the garage and just kept moving forward - music from the iPod in the car, then I got an iPhone and moved everything to the phone and it has been just great. iPhone in the garage for music, iPhone in the car or flash drive in the car either one works great!! Yes - I am one of those old retirees! If I can do it - anyone can do it.

I'm not exactly young either (well, sort of. My wife says I have a 60 year old body and a 16 year old brain. I'm not certain she meant it as a compliment either). But I haven't purchased a CD in years. Wife put everything in iTunes, and we just put what we want on an iPod, stick, or whatever.

Even better, I think Pandora rocks. Just set up your stations, give a thumbs up or down when you get other tracks that are similar to the particular station, and pretty soon you only get tracks that you like. And I've found a lot of new artists I like this way too.

BTW, some of the comments in this string are really cracking me up!

That's not a high beam button. That's the snow button. When you're driving at night and it's snowing you can stomp on that button - and shazam!! - it's instantly snowing even more.

Oh, and I can't find my snow button either. They must have moved it.

Or spend a lot of money on an aftermarket stereo install, but I wonder if there are any aftermarket head units with CD players any more.
Aftermarket units typically still have them, most of the time they are hidden behind the screen.

I don't understand why the C7 doesn't have one, the CUE Cadillac's do (in the glove box) as do most "new" GM cars (probably so they can remove it later). What would be nice is have a port in the glove box and make it an "accessory" and then see the take rate. Based on that continue to provide the accessory or not. Win-Win.

Honestly? Hootie and the blow fish could walk past me and I'd never know. It's some stupid band name I remember from a few years ago. It was so stupid that it stuck in my decrepit old brain!

And what about 8 Tracks?? Now some of us "old timers" stay current (or try to at 72!) I bought the 1st Radio Shack TRS-80 Computer in the State of Ohio for our Lab (then bought one for my home when it upgraded to 4k of memory!) That is what the local Radio Shack manager kept telling me since production was continually delayed! It replaced my TI-59 Calculator for a number of tasks, which cost about as much. That was the same time frame I bought an 8 Track for my CJ5 Jeep.
Now I have 100+ page website that I produce and manage myself. I also have put all my CD's on an SD card for the Vette. In fact decided to cancel XM Radio and put ~600 Oldies on another SD card that starts playing in shuffle mode as soon as I get in the car. That's all I was using XM for anyway, switching between, '50's, 60's and '70's. Now I have the best of those sounds, no back sides of 45 hits, etc! If I want dialog with an old song I just download some songs ripped from YouTube that come from Doo-Wop TV shows! It's free and only takes time (which I have!) When I want to hear a specific song I just use voice commands without having to take my eyes off the road! It displays the song and artiest as well!

JerryU I am impressed with your ability to keep up with technology. I know a lot of people that are still dealing with the flashing 12:00 on their VCR's.

There is a very good reason that CD's replaced cassettes, cassettes replaced 8 track and USB's have replaced CD's. Better , cheaper , more flexible, require less voltage to run and less room to store. Who doesn't like that?

        Thanks, I try!
Don't try to keep up with some things, like carrying my cell phone every where I go, communicating in 144 character messages or spending my time with foolish gibberish sending and responding to text messages. However spend time on this forum and a few other Vette ones but never on my technical area, which is welding. Too many would be experts who no matter how correct and answer is can be very critical. Better to be on Vette forums where I can speculate and admit when some of my hypotheses are wrong!
