The "free" SD card is usually an 8GB card which is NOT big enough for the 2 days of recording. The SD cards are cheap... buy one before you go and take it with you... 16GB will work but honestly for the price difference buy yourself a 32GB card and record EVERYTHING you do during the 2 days. You'll appreciate having it afterwards and regret if you don't.

One thing to note: 64GB cards will work BUT they need to be specially formatted, otherwise they won't work in the PDR. There is a program you can get for your computer that will format the 64GB cards but it has to be done specifically and ahead of time. The 8GB, 16GB and 32GB cards will work straight out of the packaging.

They do have clear roofs. I have had several during my numerous courses at Spring Mountain.

They DO NOT put any kind of "liner" on the clear roofs... at least they didn't for me or anyone of the other clear roof cars I saw over the past 3 years at the facility.

I have seen some VERY tall people taking the course over the past 3 years and all of them have been accommodated. It's sometimes a tight fit but they have managed to make it work for everyone... don't worry about it, they'll get your sorted out.

I am trying to find ones that just cover your head & ears, but my searches bring up mostly biker do rags. Can anyone recommend where to get what I'm looking for?
GS, we're in the same class...see you then!

Was there this week. There head socks and helmets are fine but you can bring your own and you can change socks as often as you like. Some of the taller folks were allowed to drive without a helmet.

They will not check you in one second before 3PM and a small ice storage container and extra water are a plus.

I would not take my own helmet liner unless you plan on taking several. I was there Memorial Weekend, last year. I went through one helmet liner every track session. They have plenty of clean ones. I have a skull cap and took it with me. One track session and it would have been soaked. I didn't use mine but used theirs instead, at their suggestion. Glad I did.

I don't think they have any clear tops and I put a eyeball on a lot of the cars. A clear top in the desert would be terrible as Corvettes are hot enough. You don't need all the face and neck things, wear a teeshirt and shorts and some sneakers, put the A/C on LO, turn on the seat fans and you're good to go. I used their helmets and liners and they were fine. Much more relaxed environment than i had anticipated. Good deal with two nights and a free chip.

If you do need an extra night, the Holiday Inn Express right in downtown Pahrump is surprisingly nice. My wife is rather selective and she thought it was nice. Walk to Casinos and Restaurants. Nice people work there all very familiar with Spring Mountain. We stayed there the night after I finished.

I had issues with the standard roof. They put a clear roof on my car. There is no liner on the clear roof. I still rubbed a bit but it was much better than the standard roof.

Rubbing the interior of the transparent roof on your own car-

On our C5 and C6, I put a wide (2"-3") strip of white adhesive tape in the center of my helmet, running from front to rear. With a little care, the helmet plastic never touched the roof plastic.
The inside of the roof would get some residue from the tape, but "GM Glass Cleaner" (white foamy stuff in spray can) that they recommended for C5 transparent top, removed the residue and didn't harm the plastic.
